  • What does it take to set up a V6 Passat a to R36

I have a 07 Passat Wagon v6 and I will be doing the following this week, hopefully:

    1) Tyres are almost worn out now. Changing my wheels from the stock 17 to 18 instead of 19. 19 looks better but its getting too pricey for those tyres.

    2) Changing the springs to eibach springs to drop the car by 30mm. This should make the 18 look nicer.

Just wondering what are the suspension set up differences between a normal Passat v6 to a R36?
Anything else. Best option is probably change the car to a r36.

As far as I know, it's shocks, springs, and different software in the electronic power steering.

The R36 ECU is definitely different from the V6 Passat. I also have a friend who is thinking of 'upgrading' his V6 passat ecu to the R36. Can anyone shed some light here whether if it is possible?

You would probably need to upgrade the engine from 3.2 to 3.6 first.....
Confirmed Global Warming Sceptic. No Longer a VW Owner -Loving my new 2011 Range Rover Sport - bought as VW unable to provide info on the new Toureg despite it being released overseas 12 mths ago. 2008 R36 Wagon, 2006 GTI and 2004 R32 - Gone. Sorry VW, you make great cars but until you improve your customers' experiences you will lose customers

Imitations just don't stick!! I'd rather pick up a 2nd hand R36 and not have to start messing around with the engine but that's my 2cents !

Agreed. Just want to up my handling to the r36 standard. No point spending money on the engine to increase 0-100 by 1 sec. Does not work in morning freeway traffic crawls.

any reason in particular you want to make it an r36?
not saying theres anything wrong with the r36 (i love them) just saying why not have a different passat with different wheels and different suspension, do little things like removing badges etc. make your own style

Not so much of wanting to be a a r36 in looks or performance. More interested in the handling and suspension setting. The 3.2 v6 can stand on its own in terms of performance. Fancy the r36 seats but I think it is not worth selling what I have for those.
