06 Passat head unit questions

Can anyone advise on extra features I can access easily with my IPOD connector? I have the VW IPOD cable in the glovebox and you can name your 5 favourite playlists etc, can I get song names onto the headunit display?

Does anyone know if this headunit should play MP3's from disc too? I don't think it does (odd for an 06 model car) but I haven't got round to burning a disc to test it?

When did VW introduce MP3 compatibility to it's head units and are units with this capability readily available second hand? How much are they? Mine's a 6 stacker in a 06 V6 4 Motoion Passat, don't know the model number of the head unit?

Any tips on other easy mods for my car would be greatly appreciated.

I can't answer all your questions, but the old Ipod kits were faily limited in their capabilities. They went MP3 about 2 years ago, from memory. If it hasn't got it written near the disc slot, chances are it isn't MP3 compatitble.
