    Is anyone able to advise on what's involved in fitting mudflaps to my MY08 2.0TDi? The dealer quoted me over $400 to supply and install (for 4). I guess being genuine these would be a quality product, but I haven't seen any around with gold plating on them. I was thinking it might be worth fitting them myself to save about half the cost, which still makes them pretty pricey but worth it if it prevents stone chips on the rear quarter panels. Thanks.

    I paid $220 installed by Brisbane Dealer for genuine articles - $400 sounds too much.

      I got them included in the price of the car (so who knows how much I actually paid for them) and I've found that they scrape on the road heaps. cornering at speed or any dips in the road and scrrrraaape.

      As far as installing goes it just looks like a bunch of torx screws, although you'd probably need to remove the rear wheels to get to the screws with a normal sized driver.

        yep the scraping is a problem - going over the smallest speedbump requires car, even drive ways. At the end of the day, they will protect the car so if i have to replace them every couple of years, no real big deal.

          yeah don't get me wrong V6Passat, IMHO the benifits of mudflaps far outweigh the scraping every now and then. But mine will be coming off anyway whenever I pull my finger out and order the lowered shocks and springs. Only been putting that off for about 6 months

            OR you could just leave them on the car once your lower it and just grind them down to the desired height!

              I paid $180 from a parts wholesaler who got them to me for trade (friend helped me out with an intro). I put them on myself it is really easy just time consuming. I also got a clear rear bumper protector for $90. This is brilliant and is really thick clear plastic, does the job really well and is very hard to see.
