  • Slotted rotors and brakes for Passat Wagon

Hi I am new in this forum. I have a 07 Passat Wagon 3.2 v6 and the front brakes are due for a change. Given that my car is coming out of warranty in April, I'm considering to do the following:
    1) Sport suspension kit to lower and firm up the ride
    2) Slotted brake rotors
    3) New set of wheels. Tyres have another 5000kms left too

Are there any tuning houses around Melbourne that does all this?

    Thanks

    Hi Mate,

    Welcome to the forum!
    Great choice of vehicle...

I too will be looking to add slotted rotors; here is a link from vortex

Probably stay away from crossed drilled rotors though.

As for springs, H&R or Eibach FTW!

Thanks OPE 126. Those rotors look cool. Would probably cost a bit too. Shipping from the US can be expensive.

A VW dealer quoted me A$800 for the rotors and $200 for pads excl labour. Does anyone one some indicative pricing for front rotors and pads? Would need to leave some money for the wheels too.

My first preference is local supplier. I live in Melb. Any recommendations? I went to Volks Affair to replace my rear pads and they were very friendly and helpful.

If only the R36 was released in 07....

As mentioned above Greg at GSL ( site sponsor) can supply you slotted rotors around $300 for the pair and around $115 for quality european pads.
Check out sponsor page for GSL.
          Cheers

JMAC, thanks for the lead. Must have been too early for me on a Saturday. I cannot seem to find GSL in the Sponsor pages.
Still new to the site navigation maybe...

                  Hi mate,

A pair of RDA slotted rotors is $279, and in stock. The pads which we recommend for high performance European cars is a brand called Remsa. Remsa is part of the TRW group (who supply the majority of OEM braking components to European manufacturers, and are well known for their old 'Lucas' pads), and includes the electronic wear sensors as standard. Remsa pads to suit the front of your Passat are $115, and also in stock.

Shipping to Melb on the whole lot would only be $15.

Any questions feel free to give us a bell on 1300 884 836.

                  Regards,
                  Greg

Hi Greg, do these pads also fit the R36? and do they minimise the dreaded black brake dust on the wheels?

                    thanks

                      Hi Matthew,

Remsa to suit the R36 are $140 for the front, and $89 for the rear.

Unfortunately as with most European pads, the Remsa can be a bit dusty... whether it's better of worse than OEM pads could go either way. A few people here now (including a mod) are running them so they may be able to provide further information on that debate.

There's not really alot of other options (well... EBC Red are fairly low dust, provided you can put up with their lack of real world performance, and near $400 price tag....) except for QFM HPX, which although not available off the shelf we could get custom made.

The HPX is a Bendix Ultimate equivalent in terms of performance, but very low dust and rotor wear. HPX for the front would be $179, whilst HPX for the rear would be $119. Allow 4-6 weeks manufacture on either.

                      Regards,
                      Greg

                        Hi Greg,
Thanks. How are the RDAs compared to factory? I also saw DBAs in Super cheap autos for $125. How are they compared to RDAs?
Do you know of any installers in Melb?

Can anyone who is running these pads give us some feedback as to performance and dust characteristics?

                            thanks

Im running Remsa on my T4 2.5 LWB and carry a very large tool kit. Brakes are really good, spoilt it a bit with Martini mind you but dust so far is low.
                              Ill keep you posted
