  • R36 Adaptive Cruise Control

    Hello All,

I'm not sure if this is a well known fact or not, you can now get Adaptive Cruise Control on the R36. I was bored out of my ass at work between Xmas and New Year and found it buried in the VW Aus website.

So,I've now added Adaptive Cruise Control to my MY10 R36 Wagon, which is being built reasonably soon. The cost was $2795 (money well spent if you're familiar with ACC!)

Anyone who's considering the Adaptive Cruise Control for a future R36 now can tick it as an option.

    Cheers,

    Dr Block

Yeah! I TOTALLY wish it was an option when I bought one... Very handy on the highway.

    Any chance it's "retro-fittable"?

      Hi Rocket,

I don't know...You'd have to contact a dealer and ask.

      Cheers,

Now if they could just make a stealth button so that we could drive them where safe on highways as they're designed to be driven...But then I live in the nanny state

Don't worry...it appears that NSW will be joining Victoria soon with the possible reintroduction of covert mobile speed cameras due to a spate of fatal crashes involving semi trailers over the Xmas/New Year period...the Nanny, plastic bubble state appears to be catching!

In regards to extras for the R36, is Chassis Control now an option? The brochure on the website is still for the 09 Passats and doesn't mention it as an option (as with the adaptive cruise control).

Don't buy a an R36 if you're going to put Chassis Control on it. Waste of time...

                Hello MIB,

If you go to the website and next to the brochure tab is the specifications tab. That's where I stumbled across the Adaptive Cruise Control availability for the R36.

I'm pretty sure you'll find that the Adaptive Chassis Control is also an available optin for the R36.

                Cheers,

It is... But you're ruining the dynamics of the R36 if you tick that option!

The idiot from the dealership thought that's what I wanted to put on my car when I emailed him about the adaptive cruise control, he had no idea that the adaptive cruise control was now an option for the R36!

I was only quoted $2,000 for adaptive cruise control when I bought my CC (though I decided not to tick that option).

The vagaries of pricing shall forever remain a mystery!

                          ACC and Acc

I have just picked up a couple weeks ago a new R36 Sedan with the ACC and Acc. The Adap Cruise is fantastic and so is the Adap Chassis. I drove a non-adap chassis with adap chassis car back to back and the sports mode is better than the non-adaptive standard suspension. Plus you get the benefit of standard and soft. And even in standard it will still automagically adapt to the 2 extremes of comfort and sport of its own accord depending on what your telling the car to do!

The adap cruise with front and lane assist is probably the best option to show off though. It will keep the car in the lane and brake to a complete stop automagically. Lovely!!! I can post the invoice pricing when I get back from hols on Tuesday if anyone is interested.
Rest of my specs below! Love this car!!!!! I went from a highly modded S4 that I bought new in 2002 to this lovely car. Less power now than im used to but so much more fun and easy to live with as a day to day car with much better handling than the S4 ever had.

                          Cheers,
                          H.
