Towbar defense

Okay, so some turkey decided to touch park with my new R36, leaving a small scuff and a couple of fine scratches on my back bumper, and popping out one of the small plastic "windows" on it as well (not sure what it is / would be used for). Am now thinking about installing a towbar, just as additional defense ...

I'm only really after the few extra inches of metal to protrude out the rear and don't think I'll ever actually tow anything. Is it possible to just get that part fitted without all the electrics that would typically come with a proper towbar installation? At most, I might fit a bike-rack attachment to it ... what do you think?

I Have a tow bar on mine, didn't stop someone running into the back of mine , leaving a nice scratch and a note with a fake number on it....

I don't suppose there's an option on the reverse cam to "take picture if bumped"? A nice snap of the d*ckhead's license plate would be handy ...

good idea... feasible given the car has a motion detector, proximity sensors (parking sensors) and a camera.... all you need is an electronics wizz to get them all the work when the car is off! You have a 30gb hdd, better to take a video!

The towbar can be fitted, minus the wiring. I've done one in the past that way, but for other reasons. As they're separate part numbers, you'll only need to order the towbar itself.

Fitting should be reasonably cheap too, as only the bumper has to come off.

Actually, that's not such a silly idea. In fact, that software already exists in other VAG vehicles, namely the Q7 which does exactly that - take a picture! Now, how to port that software from the Q7 into the RNS510?!?!
