  • Kufatec bugs...any one else experience problems?

    Hi all,

I had the guys at No Limits in South Melbourne install the Kufatec Plus bluetooth unit (R36 with SatNav). I also had the VagCom codes done to activate all steering wheel & cluster display controls.

Generally works ok but there are some bugs & I'm wondering if any one else is experiencing the same & if you know of any fixes (the installer can't help):

    1. Every time I get into the car, my phone connects ok & phone book is downloaded fine. BUT it does not updae the recent calls lists (i.e. dialed, answered & missed calls) on the RNS510 screen.

    2. I can use the keypad on the RNS510 screen to dial phone numbers BUT that same keypad is inactive when in a call where the recorded voice says "press 1 to talk to a human bla bla bla".

    3. When in a call, if I press the 'OK' button on the steering wheel (say, to cancel the speed alert message), it hangs up the call. Pressing the button with the little phone symbol also hangs up the call but that is how the phone button is suppose to work BUT not the 'OK' button.

    Thanks!

Yup, just a fact of life with the Fiscon unit. It does not retrieve the call registers from some phones.

Correct - the dial pad is not a tone pad. You'd have to use the keypad on the phone.

      3. When in a call, if I press the 'OK' button on the steering wheel (say, to cancel the speed alert message), it hangs up the call. Pressing the button with the little phone symbol also hangs up the call but that is how the phone button is suppose to work BUT not the 'OK' button.

Again, just the way that this unit is set up - it sees pressing the OK button as confirming its ever-present question to "terminate the call?"

Evr, thanks for sharing your experience. I'm in Melb and also looking to install the Fiscon unit + in my R36 arriving in Jan. Would you recommend No Limits in South Melbourne? And where did you go to get the VAGCOM codes changed? Would I need to preorder the Fiscon from No Limits? Cheers.

Thanks for your input Swallowtail...don't feel so bad that now I know I'm not the only one experience these issues but then again would be great to get a software update from Kufatec on the call register issue & also to enable DTMF on the keypad! We'll see.

Harleyqn (love the name by the way!), the guys at No Limits are pretty good & I would go back there if I needed to install another unit. Regarding pre ordering, I was lucky as it took only 2 weeks but it depends on whether the aussie distributor has any in stock or not but I imagine shouldn't be too bad.

Had the VAGCOM done at Barloworld Brandon Park (Springvale Rd). They didn't want to do it initially but I kicked up a stink & 15 minutes later I walked out of there with it all done. Just remember to take the coding instructions with you that Kufatec provide.

            Good luck.

I got my Passat with RNS510 and Fiscon fitted through Barloworld Brandon Park. How do I check if they have done VAGCOM? My iPhone 3GS works fine with the unit apart from DTMF. For e.g. If i dial a number say +61289898800 ,+61(destination number) which is what I normally dial from my iPhone the call doesn't go through. This is while my phone is connected to Fiscon and I am dialing from phone and not from RNS510 dialpad. Some how it truncates anything that is after ","

I don't believe the Kufatec supports DTMF... ? I could be wrong, but I don't think so...

                    Hey guys,

I'm also interested in getting the Kufatec setup.

Do they work well with Android phones?

How much are we looking at for No Limits to install the unit and Barloworld to make VAGCOM code changes?

I hear that Volkspower also do both (supply unit and code VAGCOM).

Whoa ---- hold on there peeps

FFS ---- stay away from OffLimits in Pt Melb like the plague

I imported the Fiscon from Europe and got those goombas to fit it with the pre-install chat that I wanted it vagcom coded to which he promised. 2 hours later I picked it uo and it didn't work on the MFD & I was told they could not do it & take it to a dealer --- "take em 5 mins" I was told. Of course the dealer said pish off

The fone whan answered would surge the speakers so I thought they would blow up. The sound quality was awful at the remote end. All in all a disaster.

I took the car to AutoFidelity in Moorabbin and got them to reprogram the unit and 1 hour later I got all the MFD & steering controls working. Two weeks later I went back to see if there was any thing needed to code my new Google fone & also mentioned the mike quality. An hour later they re-routed the mike & explained that where it was previously installed it would pick up noise from the roof cavity. Now ppl say it is awesome

I cannot recommend AutoFidelity highly enuf. Terrence (the owner?) is great to deal with. A mate bought the Fiscon from them & had it installed and he is super happy. In the end he got it cheaper than my import process

Anyway --- try them as an alternative --- the Pt Melb guys were clueless

                      Cheers

ps for the person asking about Android - werks great on the Nexus 1 and also my mates HTC Desire. No issues with Eclair or Froyo versions as well. Also the A2DP (sic) streaming from the fone werks well also

                        Hi guys,

I have a Fiscon unit fitted to my 2010 Golf GTI. I cant get the contacts to sync properly with my HTC Desire. Any contact that has multiple phone numbers doesnt sync correctly. Any ideas? iPhone 3GS and all Win Mo phones sync fine.

About $900 for the fiscon basic plus
                              With voice activation enabled.
The previous version I was told did not support
Voice activation so I upgraded to newer version
But doing that I lost recent call lists as I was able to
Previously access this feature and now it does not
                              Function.
Has anybody else experienced this ?
