  • R36 20% tint...any problems??

    Hi guys,
I am about to organise window tints for my black r36 sedan.
    I'm planning to get 20%.
I was wondering if any of u have vision problems as the glass already has very slight tint to it..
    Any recommendations in Sydney??
    Thanks

Your R36's must be tinted differently from factory that UK spec. My rear windows are near-black! You can hardly see in!

Hey mate you might wan't to be careful with the tinting.

If the R36 rear window is anything like MK4 R32 rear window then like you mentioned there is that slight tint to it and it can make additional tint look very dark

If you can wait till end of next week i can take some photo's of my black R32 and show you what the tint looks like as i'm not with the car at the moment.

To give you some idea.. my sides have a layer of 35% and a layer of 20% on top of that. My rear window has only one layer of 20%. The sides and the back all look the same.. that its pretty much pitch black. You can't see anything inside unless you literally had your face up against the glass and even then you can only see a little.

Can prove to be an issue in the night if the street is not well lit up or when reversing. I'm considering getting my sides re done with one layer of 20% and perhaps getting two layers of 35% on the rear to lighten things up a little.

Hope this gives you some sort of insight.

I have no problem with 18% tints, but I've had it on all my previous cars as well. My wife thinks it a bit challenging reversing at night with no street lights around, but thats what parking sensors are for.

My good mate Bob does my windows, $220 and his number is: 0411 333 069
He takes all the door trims and rear brake light off to tint the entire window, and still no rattles nearly 1.5 years on.

I have 20% tint on my wagon.

It is a little challenging at night reversing looking through the back window but have had no problems during the day.

We have 20% on our Falcon and 35% on the Passat.

The 20% looks waaaaay better and doesn't cause any dramas at night etc, as long as who ever is driving knows to take extra care.

The only problem would be if you had to make an insurance claim down the track...

I have worked in the insurance industry for some time, and deal with motor claims often.

I have never heard of an insurer knocking back a claim on the ground of window tints. I have brought this up with insurers, who agree it would be nearly impossible to do so, unless it could be absolutely provent that the tints were the cause of the accident.

Motor Insurance is one of the only policies which provides cover for "idiotic" behaviour. Think about it, many motor accidents are caused by an illegal action taking place - failing to stop, not leaving enough space between vehicles etc. etc.

Just my two bobs worth, but I feel relatively safe that an insurer will pay irrespective of the tints being too dark.

I have 20% tints on my .:R32, had no issues at all.

At night when parking, just slide down your windows for a better view.

Not the best pic, but just a rough idea on how the tints looks.

Had my 20% tint on my 350z and it was a pain in the arse at night. Constantly having to wind down your windows at junctions.. and almost cleaned up a couple of cyclists in numerous occasions.

Picking up my Black R36 on Wed and now just need to work out what tint to get.

What type of tint does everyone have on their R36?

Any recommendations (in particular for black)?

Hey Jayse - Is that a 20% tint? Looks much darker in the pic than mine which was done through the dealer. I might get an independent tinter to look at mine ...
