iphone and bluetooth = ringtone problem

I have just bought an iPhone and am having issues with the BT connection

I have the vanilla stereo, an dealer fitted BT set up and a new 3G S iPhone.

I can connect the phone and make/receive calls but the incoming ring is confusing!

The iPhone rings with the selected ring tone AND the BT emits a BRR BRR tone via the stereo as well

Previous phones just rang thru the speakers and the phone was silent...

Any ideas?

Mine rings on phone and thru BT... not a problem though. The iPhone doesn't have a separate 'profile' for BT connected mode, where Nokias etc I think go into Headset mode, which stops the handset ringing.

I have to say this though - how confusing can it be - your phone is ringing, answer it!!

Thanks Swallowtail... yeah agree ring = answer but I wanted to know why!!

Your answer about the Nokia profiles gives me that... I used to use a Nokia
