R36 External temperature irregularities

On Friday, driving home from the city in peak hour traffic, I noted that my external temperature display was reading 45 degrees (likely to be early twenties...). It stayed like that even as the traffic was moving quite well.

Has anyone else had any dramas or irregularities with the temperature display? Is it normally reliable?

always approx 1 or 2 degrees difference, but nothing like that!!

I've noticed mine about 5 - 10 degrees over in traffic, but it comes back dwn pretty quickly when you get moving again.

Sometimes in traffic, a degree of two..never seen 40s.

A difference in 20 degrees is fairly large i reckon. Maybe the thermostat isn't functioning. Best to ring up the dealer for an inspection.

if its anything like a golf usually the sensor is in the front of the car.. You werent driving in bumper to bumper traffic and copping someones exhaust gasses perhaps?

I suggest you search for 'climatronic data' and you will be able to find the data for the temperature sensors on board - of which there are more than one - you can then scroll through and see what each is displaying for comparison.

I have this problem also - showing 45 degrees in Melbourne mid Winter????? Took to the dealer and they mentioned the sensor cap was not on correctly. Had been fixed but I am still having the same problem - ciimbs dramatically to 40+ plus when in traffic. This also seems to have a dramatic effect on the climate control as the aircon goes to max in this situation - Does this mean the internal temp is regulated by the outside temp??? Would have thought there was an internal sensor to regulate climate control. I have to take back to my dealer to fix this and a few other probs (ESP failure...... Locking RNS-510). Car only has 10,000km's.

There are sensors inside and outside. If the outside temp is hotter, the car will recirculate more to attempt to keep the interior at the temp you have set.

During last summer's heat wave in Melb., our temp. read-out was saying 47 degrees. This was on the eastern freeway surrounded by traffic with heaps of heat-soak from the road, other cars etc. My point being, it was bloody accurate!!
