Finding my Bootlid Open

Hi All,

Has anyone had this problem where the bootlid opens when I unlock my car, I have noticed that this happens when it rains more that when it is dry. For the last two days i have opened my front door (house) and found my boot wide open, so there is either an issue or the guy up the roads drives by in his passat and unlocks my boot.

Does it ONLY happen when you use the remote to unlock the car? If so, it could be a problem with the remote sending both signals? Maybe an issue with the buttons on the remote?

I think it does it with both remotes,

But is it only when opening the car with the remote that the boot also opens? Or does it also open at other times?

Chances are there's something wrong with the coding of the remotes if it happens with both of them and not any other way. Dealer should be able to fix it.

it also happens at other times, the last two mornings i have walked out to the car and found the bootlid open before i touched the remote.

Weird... In that case though it could also be the latch not holding it closed properly, a fault with the mechanism or as you suspect, something else with exactly the same frequency as the remote. Although I thought new remotes were meant to use rolling codes so as to avoid that sort of thing.

Definitely a weird one. I'd be seeing the dealer ASAP.

i would bet that the remotes are roling codes too and almost Nil chance of another remote triggering the boot.

this car is very sophisticated ( ie lots can go wrong) so i'll bet the board controlling the fuel cap is faulty or getting wrong signals from the body computer.

go to the dealer asap before it starts unlocking the car as well!

When I had my Audi I occasionally walked out to find the windows down. Finally worked out that with the remote in my pocket (ie jeans), the unlock button could be held pressed - lowering all the windows. Unsettling. The remote had good range too, so it would happen while I was in the house doing other stuff.

oh yeah! never thought of the button pressed in the pocket... That's happened to me a couple of times over the years - thankfully while im at the car though.

Slightly OT, but could the keys in your jeans pocket scenario cause issues with keyless start vehicles? Where one of the buttons is pressed for a length of time, like the lock button which might normally be the panic alarm button?
Or is it that once the car starts the buttons are deactivated on the keyfob?
