Window Tinting for Passat Wagon

Want to help my aircon this summer so I'm looking for ideas on window tinting for a granite green Passat Wagon colour price etc

Like this one:

Suggested tint level: 35% (legal limit)
Have been quoted from:
$320
$450 (Midnight Express) Black
$495 VW Dealer No colour or brand specified
$550 (Bolle) green

Thinking Bolle green because of car colour. Any assistance much appreciated.

I paid $295 in Nov '08 to tint my wagon with Midnight Express at Tint-A-Car in Melbourne.

I'd shop around for the right price.
I was gonna say the Bolle tint..but then can it make the car look too green? Saw on the tint-a-car website they have a deal with the Bolle tint:

Have you got a pic of your car with the tint? Midnight express is black so I guess it goes nicely with a black wagon. Hear what your saying about the green though. Happy to give up the free Bolles for the right tint!

tint professor will do great job for under $300 with free pick up and courtesy car. I always drop my car off and pick up the coutresy car and they usually knock off $30... saves me the worry of some dufus driving my car too...

I paid $265 for my tint and they give a true life time warranty too

Have a chat to Robert over at Hunters Hill Window Tinting, he did mine and did an excellent job. I dropped the car in at North Ryde on Saturday morning and an hour or two later jobs done.

ummm....no

35% for the front 2 windows then 18% for all the rear windows. i wanted 20% but the tinter suggested not using it as it's a metalised film and could cause interference with the aerials in the very back side windows. So got 18% instead. VERY happy with the look & finish of the job!

Jayse, that looks great. So you got more tinting on the rears and sides. Lower % is darker right?? Never thought of doing that. Thanks for all the info from everyone.

Do tint regulations only apply to front windows, or on all windows? For some reason I'm thinking you are "allowed" to tint darker on the rear panels of a car ... or is that just for fixed panels ... or am I thinking of something I heard when I lived in California?

When I am not driving my Passat I ride my bicycle. Tinting of side windows is a real worry at intersections because you can't see whether the driver has seen you or not. Just my 2c.

A lot of the newer SUV's have "Privacy" tint as an option... the rear fixed glass is very dark, rear passenger less so, and the front windows max "legal" tint so you have a 3 step graded tint.

YES. My last car had metallised film with an embedded antenna in the glass and it was affected. The metallised tint will affect radio reception, esp AM bands.

Probably not GPS as you will (should) have the GPS on dash or an external aerial ??
