  • RNS510 Media Fault

    Hi All.

Was playing music on RNS510 through SD card on the way to work this morning and all of a sudden it stopped playing. It would also not play music stored on hard drive - doesn't even display music info on screen. I tried turning off car and leave for a lengthy period and this did not rectify. Also tried factory restore (reset) in options menu to no avail.

Radio still works fine - radio still plays even when I select "Media".

I am thinking it is back to the dealer to get them to look at - just wondering if anyone else has encountered this problem????
09 Passat R36 Sedan - Black, Sunroof, Dynaudio, SatNav, Kufatec Bluetooth.

Something I tried with varying levels of success when mine froze was pulling the fuse.
It's in the engine bay fuse compartment, not too sure which number but 19 rings a bell. The owners manual will detail it.

Resetting eventually seemed to work. I will be getting checked at first service.

There is a topic in the Car Audio & Electronics section that is talking about a firmware upgrade for RNS-510 which amongst other things (mainly cosmetic), provides voice recognition (Control). http://www.vwwatercooled.org.au/newf...ad.php?t=33636

Certainly sounds interesting - Only problem is finding someone that has the expertise to initiate firmware upgrade and install necessary microphone - not my strong area!!!

I might call my dealer tomorrow and see if they can arrange upgrade - although I am not hopeful.
