Hi. It was a custom-map done by a guy I know who runs a tuning company here in the UK. Map results where staggering - and I'll explain why we think so shortly!

        Hi.

Basically, I expected to get nothing from a remap given the Passat CC 3.6 V6 is quoted aT 280BHP stock from VW. By making the same engine 296BHP stock it sounded like VW had litrally performed an in-house remap job on the engine.

I was a little puzzled by this, given they never ever run things at 'full wack' from factory as it makes giving horsepower guarantees difficult among other things. Given this, I took the car along anyway, rolled it at 308BHP stock (good result, not underheard of though. Alot of R32's pump 260BHP+ stock) just manufacturer conservative figures again.

        Remap done... 339BHP

This made little or no sense, given there isn't a turbo - so I went digging and found a tuning company in the UK have taken an R36 engine apart. The result was apparently the same engine as the CC V6 but with an R36 specific cylinder head that basically houses larger valves. This gives the extra horsepower over the CC - but it hasn't really been mapped to take advantage, this I achieved what the tuning company that did it said, is the largest gain for a n/a engine they've seen.

That aside, the car is very rapid anyway - 308 to 336 didn't exactly make my eyes pop out, but its defiantly noticeable in the mid-range urge.

        Regards,

i never knew the passat cc 3.6 is a little different than r36 variant engines.

but those are amazing gains from a n/a engines.

Yeah - Pushing 300BHP by ~ 5k/rpm iirc. I'll have to find the dyno printout again and post it up.

8 to 10% power gain is a good result for an N/A vehicle, and consistent with what other tuning companies are getting with the R36 engine I believe.

The Aussie released CC has the 220KW / 295hp / 300ps engine that the R36 has.

Rob, nice run mate, very quick considering a mate of mine in a heavily modded ed30 with about 325 bhp only run 13.2!!

I'm a proud owner of an R36 here in the UK, Dorset and so pleased how rare they are although this is playing havoc on tuning potential so would be keen to have a few more details on this tuner in the UK and potential costs???

Happy for you to PM me although know you're busy looking forward to the 1st November!!!

                I reckon you're run around 13.2 @ 105mph,...

Sorry Matthew, ED30 is the limited Edition MKV Gti (30 years) which came with 230 bhp out of the box although is very tuneable, hence why VW are sticking a slightly modified version of that engine into the new Golf R.

That would be about right power wise... Pireilli GTI is 169KW, or 225bhp, which is about 230PS.

Weather permitting I will be going back to the strip on Sunday

Also got a cat-back on it now as well so it sounds a bit more meaty.

                              Hi Guys.

Well I never did get to re-attempt the 1/4 mile. Got rained off (typical British weather!!). Will be trying again in the new year.
