  • Here we go guys R36 1/4 mile

with half decent Launch and stock car 13.6 is the start.

Wagons wouldnt be far off either I can say.

But the Sedan we tested did return a 13.3 on Gtech Pro, this is with a brutal side step launch instead of holding.

Not bad... 13.66. Doesn't say if it's stock? But that's good going though...

Launch control handles it nicely with the DSG in the R36. Activate the launch control, rev the nuts off it (it'll only rev so far) then when you want to go take your foot off the brake. Hold on.

A side step start is where you rev up the car and then slip your foot sideways off the clutch - not something you can do with a DSG as there is a pedal missing LOL... As Gareth_oau says it can be brutal on the clutch's longevity.

                Hi Guys.

That is my car! I was searching on Google for other R36 owners that had run the car 1/4 mile, and to my shock, it appears it's just me!

Figured I would join your fine forum. The R36 is a rare sight here in the UK, so I guess I'll have to talk to you lot instead

The car was completely stock when I did that run. It also rolling roaded at 308BHP (slightly above official manufactures figures, but they always play it safe).

I have since had the car remapped, and it is having a custom cat-back exhaust system fitted on Monday. I will then be taking it back to the drag-strip on 1st November to see what the new time is!

I wouldn't have picked a 13.6 from a stock R36, but that's a great result. Very interested to hear what it does after the remap and exhaust.

Rob has said on another post that with Launch Control it does a consistent 13.6 to 13.7, and with just "press the pedal and go" it does 14.1s.

                              Hi All.

Well I dropped the car off to have its cat-back today and I collect tomorrow so I'll post some sound clips then

Can't wait to go back to the drag-strip on 1st November.

I too didn't predict a 13.6 out of a stock R36. I expected it to be 1 second quicker than my Passat W8 (which ran a 15.2) which to be fair, it is without Launch Control thinking about it.
