  • Which colour is worth waitng for?

I have had an R36 sedan ordered since July. Didn't want any options.

Since I first approached the dealer through ordering in late July I have consistently been told mid to late November for delivery which was 'fine', I'm going to have the car for 4 to 5 years so a couple of months wait doesn't hurt (much).

Chased him up for a VIN this week and the answer was it would come through later this week or early next week and delivery would still be mid to late November. BUT in another colour the car could be delivered mid October.

It is tempting to take what was my second preference early and possibly beat an interest rate rise as well. Which colour, if any, is worth waiting an extra 6 weeks for; Icelandic Grey or Biscay Blue?

[Can't believe I'm this concerned over the colour of a car. The dealer said he won't have any trouble offloading the other one in late November.]

I was in the same boat as you when I ordered mine. Looked at the grey as there was a customers sitting at the dealership. Didn't like it that much thought it looked a little dirty. As everyone seems to say that the blue does grow on you and yer it looks good. The white looks awesome too and would probably be my pick out of the two also will look alot cleaner longer.

Saying all that it really is personal choice, have a look in person is my advice.

Did you order yours from Prestige volkswagon ? as I see you are in Albury. Thats where I ordered mine.

    I ordered silver.

Yeah Vossy, from Wodonga Prestige. They were the best I dealt with across a few from Sydney and one from Melbourne.

The prices were coming down slowly from other dealers and I was getting tired of hearing all their problems when Wodonga Prestige came back with a much better offer than any of them. Near enough to the same as the lower end prices getting quoted around here (with corporate discount). I would have paid them a slight premium to offset the costs and inconvenience of buying out of town. No pressure for after market stuff, yet, and the finance was BMW who we have a couple of loans with already.

Can't agree more. I tried almost all the dealers in melb one in sydney and brisbane. I even told dealers how much I was quoted by wodonga and they said to take it because they couldn't match it. They where great to deal with, it was good to have someone get back to you when they said thay would.

So what colour have you decided on ? Was your salesmans Ben ?

About a week ago I saw a red R36 in the northern suburbs of Melbourne. I didnt know red was a colour here... its not available on the website as an option but it is in Europe. Anyone else seen one?

I think if you are in to low maintenance of your paint go the grey, but if you lust after premium waxes and polishes then the results of these on the blue will be more impressive IMO.

Went with the grey. Gets here sooner (lands October 2 the dealer says) and should be ready about the same time I get back from holidays. It's a similar colour to my trade-n so a little boring to stick with a grey car for a few more years but it won't look like a match for the wife's car.

(vossy, I have been dealing with Ben as well who should have spare Biscay Blue sedan to deliver in late November)

ADAC, definitely don't won't a sedan, need a wagon for room and work. Also the blue is nice but I have ordered the silver as it is easy to keep clean and looks classy with the tinted window. 2nd of oct your grin must be getting close to your ears by now.

As to red have not seen one around have seen it on the net.

A nice candy apple red R36 might look quite sexy!!

NZ gets red so don't see why one couldn't have ended up over here.
