  • Syncronising the remote control Key

Has anyone read this section in the manual?

    Booklet 3.1 page 41.

I assume that the procedure is the way to resync the FOB that wont open the door IF it was already "paired" to the car?

Whereas a "new" FOB needs the VW magicians to do their little tricks... right?

Or am I misunderstanding something here?

Do Passats have the old style key fob with a blade or the new-fangled ones without a key blade ?

The old style ones can get out of synch with the car if you press the buttons too often when you aren't near the car, but owners can resynch the remote (or even add a new remote) themselves, no need for a dealer tool (or VCDS).

The immobiliser chip (or RFID) that lives in the key blade half is a whole different story (VCDS or in some cases dealer only).

Don't know anything about the new fobs without a key blade, sorry.

The remotes have a Key blade but it is not a switch-blade type...

The maunal says that they FOB will stop functioning if you press the buttons too many times while away from the car.
