OK so where do you get the R36 TPMS sensors??

It would seem my original post went a little off topic - Any hooo now we seem to have established that the R36 DOES have valve based TMPS does anyone now actually know WHERE to get another compatible set for after market wheels

Where else but your Volkswagen dealer There are two types 315 MHz (1K0 907 253 D) and 433 MHz (1K0 907 253 C).

I'd be confirming that it does indeed have in wheel sensors before purchasing another set as they're around $100-150 each. You can buy them from overseas cheaper.

Why don't you fit the ones from your oem wheels and buy new valve stems????

There's a valve stem repair set that includes a new union nut, new cap and valve insert (and a few other bits) that's 1K0 998 275 for around $20 but you should be fine with a few changes before you would have to use the repair set.

Well since it will most likely cost around $80 to remove the old and only around $150 for new - Think I will leave the original wheels in tact and get new.

I guess the queston mark on the R36 tpms remains

Are you keeping the tyres on your old wheels? If not I'd just swap them over, the cost will be nothing if the tyre shop are swapping your rubber over as it takes less than 5 minutes per wheel.

I paid $80 for 4 wheels to have my tyres taken off, TPMS fitted, tyres refitted and balanced.

I think you may have missed the significance of that little word each, it makes a big difference to your cost calculations (a minimum of 4 x $100 = $400, or if you want to do your spare as well it could be as much as 5 x $150 = $750 !!! )
