    Thanks for the encouragement !

I'll post some pics when I get the car back next week but it's a bit of a mish-mash atm with the standard roof rails clashing with the rims and front, that's why I've been waiting until I get closer to something I'm happy with.
Jury's out on the wheels too, RS4 reps, not bad but I'm not 100% now that they're on, we'll see.
I checked out the anodizing Rocket suggested and there's a paint finish out that gives the same effect apparently so I'll check it further.
What I should do is just copy the concept car, it's awesome!

Just notice R36 dreamers sig, I'm driving my wife's supercharged Mini Cooper S while mine's off getting work done and hating every moment of it ..not!
I better lap it up while I can, the keys get taken off me next week.

Careful it doesn't end up looking like a bog standard Passat ie without the chrome highlights.

Problem is my wifes is a 6 speed auto, which dulls performance down a fair bit.

Thing about that mini is I cannot help smiling whenever I drive it. It is just a rorty, burbling got kart for the road - simply great.

My wife is not a car person at all, but since getting the mini she is in love with the thing, I cannot believe how much her attitude to cars has changed. I might add she still uses the R36 whenever she goes on long trips with work (doesn't want stone chips on the mini probably!)

To think we nearly bought her a sensible ex fleet Mits 380 - I asked peoples opinions on here about that. Threw out all the sensibleness (sic) and went for a bloody expensive micro car!!
Confirmed Global Warming Sceptic. No Longer a VW Owner -Loving my new 2011 Range Rover Sport - bought as VW unable to provide info on the new Toureg despite it being released overseas 12 mths ago. 2008 R36 Wagon, 2006 GTI and 2004 R32 - Gone. Sorry VW, you make great cars but until you improve your customers' experiences you will lose customers

Yeah, I know exactly what you mean re the burble and the smile on yer dial, it's addictive.
My wife can't understand why I leave it in 3rd (6sp manual) coming down a 100m plus hill towards home it crackles and pops all the way LOL and she still questions why she needed the supercharged version (I got away with it because of the better interior than the standard Cooper and the climate control)
She doesn't like the R36 though, too big for her so it's all one way traffic when it comes to "borrowing" cars (my tanks always mysteriously empty on weekends)

If the roof rails are the same design as those on my Octy (and they most likely are), then be careful pulling of the plastic end caps, if you don't start at the right place (front of front cap, rear of rear cap) it would be easy to break the little locating (plastic) clip on the other end that helps hold them on.

My rails were made of alloy (main body), and plastic (caps that cover the mounting screws), painted silver (original Oz fitting) or black (replacement rails pirated from a NZ model). You might want to get (or make up) new seals that stop water from getting into the body at the mounting points if you are taking the rails off.

If you want to see what it looks like before making any permanent changes you could paint the rails with some water soluble art paint and then just wash it off after you have looked at it (but I wouldn't leave it on too long).

If anyone can let my know where to get a set of those wheels I'd be greatfull. I love the look without the centre cap over the wheel nuts. And correct me if I'm wrong but they also look like 19s! YES PLEASE!

Really? If they're 20's I'm not interested... Not willing to compromise the handling that much!

                              I don't blame you..it's such a beautiful beast!
I've been considering doing this aswell (plus tuning), but most likely our R36 will become the missus' car(we're expecting our first in Jan) and i'll probably look at the R20T when it arrives next year sometime. Will def be doing something to that for sure!!
                              Cheers,
