  • Child seat conundrum - help needed

    Hello all

I have child number 3 on the way but need to have 2 booster seats and a baby capsule across the back seat and they just dont fit because of the type of boosters we have.

Has anyone had any luck with any brand of seat that fit.

My wife has even started talking about replacing the 07 Passat wagon
    with a Falcon!

needless to say I am hoping one of you has the answer to save the Passat.

    Abortion? lol OK, bad joke...

I know there are three anchor points but I agree that it would be difficult to fit three across the back seat. But I can't imagine they would have three anchor points if there wasn't a solution out there...

try the info in this link:

We have two children right now ages almost three and almost five. We're expecting another baby early march and we have a bit of a carseat dilemma. We own a 2007 passat stationwagon which we're very happy with. I wouldn't mind trading up to a minivan to have more space but my husband just hates...

        and here's a dedicated 3 across thread...

Since doing 3 across seems to be a common question lately I thought I would start a thread about it. Please post here if you have been able to successfully do 3 carseats across. Let us know the vehicle make and year, how the carseats are installed (ie. seatbelt (and what kind) or LATCH)...

Try having a look at this thread - I had a play around with some at the time to answer someone else's question: http://www.vwwatercooled.org.au/newf...ght=child+seat

For our Passat, we've gone for the Safe-n-Sound Compaq Deluxe, convertible, suitable from birth to 18kg, and (as the name suggests), a little smaller than most to suit smaller cars. Admittedly we're not trying to fit three in for now (need to get #1 and 2 done first)...

can't see it working!! the Falcodore would be better BUT only slightly. You may have to look at a minivan of some sort. The days may be numbered....

Lose the wife!!! (Just for the suggestion)

Then one of the booster seats can go in the front (with the airbag turned off of course)

Except in Australia the nanny state this isn't allowed and we don't get isofix on the front seats nor do we get an airbag off switch.

I have this option in my tdi - unfortunately even with this option.. the typical SafeNSound type seat doesnt fit in between the two child booster seats.

I would suggest checking out the Euro options (isofix). Just need to work out if these have been tested overseas (FIA maybe?) so that you have peace of mind if they dont meet Aust Standards.

Was looking at the Multivan option but the misses thinks it looks like a bus..which I do have to agree.

I have posted this question on a few other forums. I will updtae this post if any info comes through.
