Road Trip - 2650kms 3 days

Got back from a nice road trip up in Northern NSW & South East QLD, carrying on with the same theme from my road trips last year where I was looking for as many twisty roads as I could find.

The side trip to Brisbane was to see a display home I'm thinking of building (incase you were wondering).

I didn't take too many pics this time as my driving schedule was pretty tough, I think next time I'll do this when day light savings so I don't have to push so hard. Those animals in the pics below are nice to see during the day time as you have plenty of time to react, not so at night.

Trips like this re-affirm my choice to buy this car and the PS2's (tyres) I was comfortable, the car was handling perfectly and ate up the kms and twisty roads with ease
Today its back to family mode by lowering the tyre pressures, rotating the wheels (been 5,000kms), put the baby seat and all the crap that goes with it back inside. Next major trip I'm going down south around November down in NSW/VIC Snowies, till then I'll have to amuse myself with day trips between Batemans Bay, Bathurst and Port Macquarie

If you haven't yet attacked a twisty road in your R36 do yourself a favour and take a day trip out from the city (whichever city) as there are plenty of fantastic driving roads close by or just an overnight trip away

Cro... its fair to say your a freak!! Your road trips are like a normal family holiday (when you dont fly) Its like something I would do 20 years ago... in my MkII Escort! Of all the people that bang on about enjoying their drives you are out their showing them how its done... bloody brilliant!!

I love the northern rivers of NSW. Looks like you had a brilliant trip and it's good to see that you survived Nimbin. I whole heartedly agree that everyone should take their r36 for a decent drive out of the city every once in a while. The car just loves being driven hard. You should come for a drive over to my neck of the woods through the Royal National Park to Bundeena. It's a brilliant drive, or at least it will be once they finish repairing the road.

Black spurs, Riften spurs and Kings lake in Victoria really put my upgraded R36 in an element of it's own.. It's faster in the twists than all my mates EVO 8's and 9's.. I am amazed as it is 200-300 kilos heavier... PM me for more info of what has been done or if you want a ride.. I might even let you have a drive guys.. Cheers

Actually, that is high on my list of drives to do. I live in the Sutherland Shire, so I'm not far away.


The drive through the National park south of Waterfall is a real beauty, too.

Yeah... The old highway down through Helensburgh, Stanwell Tops, down to Stanwell Park and the new Seacliff Bridge drive into Wollongong for lunch is worth it...

I've been there a few times now and love it
I usually start my day trips to Wollongong, Macquarie + Jambaroo Pass & Kangaroo Valley from the RNP.

I am amazed as it is 200-300 kilos heavier...

More to do with the driver I say
I put a 997 Carerra 4 to shame going up the Oxley Hwy on this trip, I don't think he hit the posted speed limit (100) once through the twisties when I was behind him even though his car was more than capable.

I think we should set Cro a new challenge... How many R36's can he be photographed with in his next 3 day challenge!

I'll set the bar quite low for this one (0), I didn't see any R36/32/GTI's on this trip outside the capital cities :p
