After many months of waiting, my black V6 Highline left Germany on the 14th of July. The ship is currently on its way to the USA and we are still on track for delivery week 1 September.
I know its a bit nerdy, but i havnt been this excited since the birth of my daughter.
The link from the forum works a treat and every day i can keep an eye on the journey. That track and trace is really cool...
Any one else out there with a pride and joy bobbing on the high seas?
ok...she has made it trough the Panama area without a pirate to be seen!! Due to land in French Polynesia in 5 sleeps....
R36, any risks in these waters i should be concerned about?
Not unless RORO's can be taken out by Canoes.
Should be fine. You can sleep now.
Confirmed Global Warming Sceptic. No Longer a VW Owner -Loving my new 2011 Range Rover Sport - bought as VW unable to provide info on the new Toureg despite it being released overseas 12 mths ago. 2008 R36 Wagon, 2006 GTI and 2004 R32 - Gone. Sorry VW, you make great cars but until you improve your customers' experiences you will lose customers
I get my new car on Saturday. It left Germany on 10 June. The time between unloading and delivery is the worst.
Not long for you to go now though. Enjoy!
well i hadnt planned on it, but why not. I will take my wife with me! What a great idea. I work in the CBD so wont take me long to get on site....I hope they dont drive them like they stole em?
I told the dealer that i want the car asap. They have already thrown in freebies worth about $2K and i promised i would walk if i dont get it within the first 7 days of September.

Apparently the S3 has a 4K rpm rev limiter in transport mode, so I imagine the R36 would have something similar.
I had to drive a bit over two hours from Canberra to Port Kembla to see my boat, so you have no excuse! Keep in mind it was just pot luck that I saw my car coming off the boat. The Manon was in dock for about 9 hours or so from memory and if I got to that vantage point 15 minutes either side I would have missed it. It was pretty cool to see though!

Not sure who told you that but it is rubbish. NO rev limiter is on the cars, not that it really matters, as you will find the car will have less than 20kms on it when you pick it up (My GTI had 16.5, and the R36 had 9.9)

Big Car Carriers, you will notice they are like a big box that floats with a mechanical ramp at the rear, so the goods can Roll On, Roll Off, hence RORO.
I used to see them alot when Sydney Harbour had car unloading, and it looked like they should just topple over.
Cheers

Looks like Volkswagen might differ from Audi here then. The info was passed on to me by the dealer, who is a mate of mine, so he's not likely to spin me a yarn. He's also toured Audi production facilities throughout Europe and about 6 weeks ago had a tour of the AAT facility at Port Kembla. He's a car nut like us and knows his stuff, I'd say he knows what's rubbish and what's not.
