At the risk of being boring, I have been a Subie lover since the first Rex hit our shores. I also loved the Liberty GT's and vowed to own one when the time came to buy a new car, which for me was last December. Thankfully the 36 was released just before and I arrange a back to back drive of both cars. I did the the GT first and after 25 minutes thought it was a great car but badly needed the ECU tune (needed more Ooommph for the weight). Then I visited the VW dealer and 3 hours later, the delaer had to call me to see if I was coming back
Actually he was just seeing If I was OK. Man, I was in paradise!!! Still love Subies even though I think they have lost the plot in so many ways, so until someone else does it better, VW is the new value for money sports car maker.

Thanks for all the post replies people ... much appreciated
Thanks to Gead who is taking me for a real life ride this week --- awesome cos (a) I want the wagon and (b) I quite like my arctic white GT as a colour so seeing the VW version in real life will be cool (though I wish it was pearl effect)
Thanks also to Alfie who offered a ride in his 'not-quite-standard' R36. I think that it may jaundice my real life R36 experience but if I get one I hope the offer still stands
I am sorta pleased to see lots of Subaru converts here - reassuring in a strange kind of way
