How is having the Dynaudio going to improve my experience in the following circumstances:

Full car, conversations, radio for background music.

Single passenger, talking occasionally, some good (taste not quality) music playing and level that means I can still hear the car and traffic around me.

On my own, listening to the music I love most, loudish but not so loud that it's all I can hear.

I can ALWAYS here the parking sensors no matter what the circumstances if that helps. Please explain to me how $2000+ is worth it when the stock system easily handles all the situations.
Don't you think debating over whether the Dynaudio is worth the money or not is like debating why would one spend the extra $$ for an R36 vs a standard passat. Since they all take us from A to Z but it's how it takes us there that makes the difference right. For some, the differences mean alot for others it does not.

I have heard the standard Vs dynaudio and personally believe Dynaudio is worth the money because of the clarity of the sounds. But then again, for others that clarity may not make a difference.

I've heard both and I can't tell the difference in "clarity". Seems to me the main difference is less distortion at higher volumes with the dynaudio. At "normal" or "everyday" levels, they're the same.

          Hey Radius,

I think this is a problem with SOME RNS-510 units not the Dynaudio sound system.

As someone who ticked the box on the Dynaudio option, i'm not regretting it at all. I listen to pretty much all music, cept country, loud and soft and the clarity and sound are pleasing to the ears. Mind you, it also depends on the quality of the mp3's you have saved. If thats the format you play your music.

Anyways, good luck with your choices mate.

          Cheers,

          Jayse.

            Picked mine up.

Great car, but a couple of issues:

            1. 1st gear is rough from start, feels like a rough clutch. Will see how that goes.

            2. - the biggie - They stuffed up the order, and the car does NOT have Dynaudio. Very disgruntled. They acknowledged that they have stuffed up, and offered me either a discount (to the value of Dynaudio) or a retro-fit. The retro-fit would have to come from a new car that they order and strip the Dynaudio stuff out of as it is not available as parts.

I'm thinking I should be digging heels in and getting them to give me the new car... am I being unreasonable? What does everyone think? It's clearly on the order forms, and all their documentation.

Having said that - what a car!!!! So smooth (apart form 1st as above), love the sound of it, well put together, looks HAWT!

              1. let it warm up until the auto-choke lowers the revs.

              2. they are CONTRACTUALLY OBLIGATED to fill your order as per the CONTRACT OF SALE. dig your heals in. You should be entitled to a loan car until a car that meets the specs in your contract is delivered. You could take them to court quite easily on this one and WIN! Retrofitting is not the same as factory fitted...

The rough 1st gear is the same even after an hour's drive, so not that it's cold.

Hmmm.... may have to check this out re my order.

Also the RNS510 thinks it's in Germany, and is not picking up any local satellites. SO although the Aus maps are loaded, it can't do anything. MAP just shows a blank screen. The Current Location function shows a Latitude NORTH location, so obviously not right. Any ideas on that one?

If it is upsetting you I would have them order another car. Its not like your buying a Hyundai Excel worth $14K.

Retro fit could end up untidy and lots of rattles and squeeks may develop.

Thanks everyone for your help & honest opinions again. Will go back to the dealer for a proper audition this time with a favourite CD.... only really tried the standard system during test-drive.

At least settling on an R36 in the first place was a straightforward decision.... Probably don't need to tell you about a colleague who ordered a BMW and then spent another 2 weeks just wading through the options catalogue!

Swallowtail, sorry to hear about your troubles. Surely what has happened to your car is completely unacceptable.... retro-fitting defeats the purpose of ordering the Dynaudio factory fit-out in the first place doesn't it? Who would they be employing to install it and how could they guarantee that everything goes in the right way if they've never done it before. If my car arrives without my only factory option, a sunroof, I definitely won't be letting them cut a hole in the roof!

That sucks, Swallowtail. When I ordered my R36 18 months ago I was undecided about Dynaudio after placing the order. At that time, the car was "six to ten months away." After thinking about it for a couple of months I called the dealer to amend the order, only to be told that production of cars for Australia had already started and my car had been built - and the car was here after barely five months!

My dealer said that they were not prepared to offer the Dynaudio as a retrofit as they couldn't be sure that it could be done to the same standard as one fitted from the factory.

I'm happy without it, because I didn't order it, but if I had ordered it and it didn't arrive I'd have been very displeased. As it was I missed out on a reversing camera that the factory didn't put on the car because VW Australia forgot to tell them to, and got a large cheque for my troubles.

Swallowtail... firstly, congrats on the new car....sounds like you are getting the dealer shuffle, my friend ordered a Touareg with seat memory from the same dealer that also didnt show up fitted. (Turns out to get the deal they often choose a car as close as possible to the one you want and then apologise later).

If it was me I would hit them up for a bigger than normal refund of the difference. Its either that or a 4 month wait for a replacement. Unless you are a real audio buff then its not a biggie, the standard stereo is pretty good, and if you listen to MP3's then the quality is already less than CD.

There is a slight hesitate on take off, I found that turning off the AUTOHOLD fixed the problem, (just remember to use the electronic park brake!!)

Mine had a glitch also on pickup, reset itself to German the first time I used the GPS. I reset the language to English in the MFD and its been all good since then
