  • Pana's new R36

    Hi guys

My name's Pete and I've been lurking around here for the last few weeks while waiting to pick up my R36..... now that I have it thought I'd introduce myself.

MY09 with Satnav, Sunroof and Electronic tailgate

Haven't got many pics of it because I went on the combined Opel and VW cruise that was on the weekend. Have been a member on Opelaus for years now - but none of the members knew I was trading in my 05 WRX for the Passat just in time for the cruise - lots of surprised faces on the day.

Here's possibly the only pic of it clean...

Reason I say that is that I was one of the unfortunate cars that missed a turn off and travelled down about 40km of dirt road.

Here's how my car ended up at the end of the day......

Despite the dirt - the cruise up through the spurs really showed me how good this car is. I thought that I would miss the Rex, but I don't anymore. I had mates in the car and we were all suprised at how capable it is - despite being a "family wagon" and weighing 1.7T

Mods to come: tinted windows and baby seat

After hearing Alfie's sedan on teh cruise on the weekend, would love to do some exhaust work on it, but that may have to wait for a little while!!!

Lovely ride, the black r36's look ace.
I lol'd at the after picture, but that is the price you pay for getting such a great looking car.
      At least it wasn't white

Just need some nice black/anthracite/gunmetal wheels to set it off in my opinion.

Nice one, good to see someone else who isn't precious about taking their car on dirt tracks. Nothing like the sound of a VR engine hammering through the forest

Nothing makes a black car look better than a bit of dirt, well done :spoton:

I wish my silver one looked half as good as that after a dirt road

thanks guys - loving the car more and more each day. Makes the commute to work and back home a whole lot better.

Chucked the baby seat in yesterday - still so much room for the front passenger to sit comfortably. And the pram + all the other **** you need to take with you fits too! In the Rex the passenger had to kiss the dashboard and all you could fit was the pram.

Overall am extremely happy with the car

                      Welcome Pana,

Don't worry about the dirt, just give the car a very thorough wash and give it a nice wax. Get the windows tinted and the car will look immaculate. Since we are getting more and more R36 drivers in Melbourne, it might be time to organise a VW R36 cruise.

yep - saturday morning has been booked out just for that

R36 cruise would be brilliant - imagine 10 or so cars all changing up at 7000rpm at the same time!
