  • Cold Air Intake

Wondering who may have fitted a cold air intake to the 1.8L turbo engine..

    Does it make a difference?
It seems a simple concept..and cheap.

Was thinking about it for my 2002 Passat.

Also is one better than another, some contacts would be great.

    Any feedback would be great.

    Thanks

You won't be expecting a noticeable gain, maybe unless in a dyno (probably like 1 - 2hp, imo)... I rkn one of their main use is to dress the engine bay to make it look better, and sounds better.
I had a friend that owns an accord with CAI, and the throttle response decreases significantly. Maybe due to the extended long intake system.

If ur after good number and safe gains get it re-mapped (unless u've already done that). It doesn't cost much more than getting a CAI anyways.

In and of itself it probably wont do anything but provide a nice induction sound.
However in combination with other mods such as exhaust, headers and ECU tune it may be of benefit.

considering its turbo, might aswell focus on making the air colder after the turbo, so perhaps a FMIC is the best way to go.
