  • Help with pricing for a newby

    Hi all,

Until a few days ago I didn't even know what an R36 was

I was visiting my wife at one of the private hospitals in our area after having our first baby and notice a Doctor with one.

I went back to the room and did a bit of a search on my iPhone and was amazed about these cars and how these are kept such a secret!

Less than a week on I want to purchase one in a wagon in black with black trim.

I want it fully optioned, sat nav, tailgate, upgraded stereo etc.

I noticed that there are free on roads and rego at the moment.

What is the best deal that I could expect? I'm willing to fly to pick the car up from any dealer on the eastern sea boarder.

Appreciate any help or things to look out for with dealers etc. Or any recommendations you could give.

    Cheers

i dare say the free on roads etc will be only available on current, and i think you would have to be very lucky to find your exact spec on a showroom floor...still if you did, happy days!

i managed to get my wagon with all options ticked for 74k driveaway, but had to wait 8 months while they built it....people on here have been able to get much better deals on cars that are sitting on the showroom floor

    just checked VWA website ;

*Offer applies to stock vehicles only ordered and delivered by June 30. Offer excludes Golf VI, Passat CC, Tiguan & Commercial vehicles.
Offer excludes fleet & government buyers. Not available with any other offer.
    Good luck!

carsales.com and similar are a good starting point, if you didn't do it already.

Yes the free on roads is on available stock up until June 30.

I suppose when its all said I just want a fully loaded R36 wagon with black interior. The exterior colour could be considered later once a car was found.

Would be very interested to find out what the best price I could expect to pay as I tend not to trust any dealer or anything they say

All R36 interiors (aas far as I know) are black. So all good there.

For brand new, currently in the showroom models it may be possible to get one for a low as $70k drive away but the options will be hit and miss. I doubt you'd find one with all the boxes ticked but you might be lucky. Good thing is, the R36 looks AWESOME in all the available colours. So if you're flexible with colour that will make it easier.

Well there you go... A quick search and I found one with the lot just across the Straight from you. Great price too!

Just noticed the km are a little higher than brand new and it's a MY08 not a MY09. But still, not a bad price.

But out of the 4 black MY09 R36 wagons online at the moment, 3 are in Victoria.

Victoria is good and easy to get.

Yes I saw that one too and I considered it but looking at the kms, year and the fact that its an ex-factory car I bet its has the s^&t flogged out of it and seen the track too!

Plus they want drug money for it considering all of the above!

I think I am best to ring a broker and hopefully they can save me quite a few $$$.

Driving a car hard, that's been engineered to drive hard is fine... I had my car on a track two days after I bought it with 70km on the clock! lol

Yes but as you know, you never abuse your own in the same way

What differences are there between the MY08 and MY09?

and what are the whispers for changes in the MT10?

There is a Black R36 wagon on the showroom floor at Essendon Volkswagen with sunroof and sat nav (no dynaudio). If you want the name of a sales person message me and I can give you the details.

If I had to forgo any option it would have to be the sunroof. I would say have to have the upgraded stereo, tailgate and Sat Nav. Sunroof really is a waste of time for the cost vs its use.

I use my sunrood every day. Even when it's freezing cold. I love mine. Only tim it stays closed is in the rain. Where as on the other hand, the stereo upgrade to me is a waste of money as the standard one is more than adequate.

                            Each to their own...

First of all, welcome to the group and good luck hunting down your pride and joy.

Second, congrats on the new bub, I'll be in a similar spot in a couple of months.. but I'd bought my Passat before I started the family..

Third, enjoy the options. I don't have an R36, but I've had the RNS-510 satnav in other cars and reckon it's well worthwhile.. the sunroof is still pretty groovy, even driving back to Melbourne from Port Fairy yesterday in the wet it still opened up the car a lot. Electric seats are a good thing as well, and I reckon the seat warmers are very underrated...

I'll keep an eye out for any I see, mine's back for a service in the next couple of weeks (I'm thinking about Essendon rather than Werribee)..
