Who were the guys in Brisbane who did the ECU mods on the R36 that put up the dyno graphs and had them removed? Thx

huh, i dont understand... you wont post graphs until the advertising is approved? Is the best advertising that which demonstrates a products capbility without the marketing flavour thrown in?(maybe I am missing something here?

I don't know exactly what is involved in an ECU upgrade but at $1495 it is borderline I would guess for many people. Especially considering a Lamborghini upgrade is $3000 when it is worth almost 5-8 times as much as the R36. Maybe the Lambo upgrade is cheap or easier. I don't know.
If it involves alot of labour then I can understand as time and effort are money; but if it is just a software upgrade with a plugin to a computer USB outlet and a press of a few buttons... well I think most people can make up their own minds.
I'm a bit weary because power and torque increases are not always safe for the other factory components of the car. I know from reading on another forum that VW's DSG cogs are only rated for about 350Nm of torque transfer (ie. 350Nm is within the performance envelope - it's rated maximum is obviously higher; but 350 Nm is chosen as the highest safe torque transfer). If you put in a bigger engine or tune up the existing one then there's the possibility of damage.
Manufacturers tune or rather detune their engines for a reason. Most of the time it is to ensure that the car as a whole will withstand the test of time. There's a big difference between a car that is tuned right up, ready for the race track and has appropriate components installed and may have the gearbox changed out etc; and quite another to expect the factory stock components to perform to the tuned up power and torque.
Just my thoughts mind you. Everyone will make up their own minds of course. When it comes to the price though, assuming the car can handle it... if I had developed the upgrade, I'd much rather selling some of it, than none of it. Like I say I don't know if labour is involved, but surely a lower price might get more takers... maybe a group buy?
Anyway... it's all very interesting. Haven't discussed warranty issues, but that might be obvious enough to not need any.Last edited by Luminary; 08-06-2009, 06:27 PM.

I wasn't questioning the rules. I just don't understand why someone would be banned for posting a dyno graph. That is all.
That wasn't the full content of the thread. Which is currently soft deleted and could be restored.
