  • R36 Cold Air Intake

Has anyone come across a cold air intake for the R36 yet? Or has anyone tried to modify a R32 kit to suit?

Looking to start on the shopping trolley, while staying in the budget that the minister for war and finance has provided. The exhaust has to wait till next financial year

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Cheers,
    Brett

Welcome old mate. How many days this week has your wife coughed up the keys?

I am unsure how hard it would be to modify the R32 modshack unit from rennenhaus. I modified one for a MKV TDI quite simply.

Mine is currently off the car if you want to dummy something up...

80,000 yen is approx $1,130 lus $12,000 yen shipping $165.00 and if you are lucky it will slip through customs otherwise add $113.00 duty, then GST onThe freight , duty and the goods $141.00 and customs charge $56.00 and broker fee $125.00 plus warehousing $75.00. Total $1,850.00.
This has happened to me on other things I have imported, sometimes the goods get through but anything over $1,000 has duty, GST etc added.

those power gain look abit hard to believe for just air filter / box mod.

That is just stupid!!! Im sure that if you go to any engineer he'll be able to make a proper CAI that goes down to the bumper. CAIs are not worth $500 let alone almost $2000!!!!

                        ^ what he said...

LOL... I'm sure there's a bit of engineering in it (I assume there's a MAF sensor mounted somewhere on the intake tract), but almost $2K for a CAI is ludicrous.

                            Cold Air Intake..Does it work?

Just wondering if someone can tell me how much diference a cold air intake set up would make to my 1.8L turbo Passat..

I understand the principle and just wanted to know if its worth the $$$..even though they seem cheap enough.

                            Thanks
