Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

    Worth the wait

Dear all, whatever you do, don't cancel the order. When it arrives, it will be worth the wait. There is so much to discover and learn about how to get the most out of it that you will enjoy it for years to come. I ordered mine in October last year and received it on December 1 08. Supposedly an 09 build. It makes me feel good every day and I enjoy going to work and coming home even more. I too will keep it for 2 cycles (6 years) unless I bend it badly. Love that car!!

Those of you who also haven't had their cars delivered on time, have your dealers done anything to compensate for the delay? Or have they, like mine, just said 'too bad'?

All I can say is .....I want my car now!!!
Ive been told 29.05.09 Delivery now..I hope thatll be the end of it

It's a MY09 with a build date of December 2008. 2009 is already just about half over so I can't see the point in waiting MONTHS for a build date that in the long term isn't going to overly affect resale. I plan on keeping the car at least 5 years.
Like Rocket I was lucky enough to get my R36 rather quickly.. This was only due to the cancellation of the Brisbane Motor Show and buying the show car.. MY09 Dec 08 build...

It is worth the wait.. and from my experience you do not want to put pressure on the pre delivery as you will find you will have to go back for something they missed...

Though I only intend to hold onto mine for 3 years and before the first major service is due at 60,000km.

Ordered mine 10 days ago, supposed to be a Brisbane one delivered within 2 weeks now it's coming from NSW so due next week I'm hoping.

Rocket - Unfortunately for us Northerners Qld rego goes on build date, not registration date, so most of the MY09 ones being delivered now are Dec 08 build and therefore (in Qld) an 08 vehicle (sucks fro resale down the track), I'm guessing it's not the same elsewhere? oh well...

R36Driver - I was told by a VW salesman that the 60k service will set me back over 2k can anyone confirm?

Same in NSW and everywhere else I think. Registration goes in build date.

hmmm... i think i'm in the 'stuff this, i'm terminating' stage, but i guess it's just delaying the inevitable wait! Billcat - good pep talk ... i guess it'll be worth the wait without having to compromise for the sake of getting it two weeks earlier... i guess...

After waiting 6months for my car to arrive, i can empathise with your frustration Teresi. But like Billcat said, just hang on, cos it'll be worth the wait. Nearly 6 months into ownership and i'm still finding any excuse to drive it!! Unless of course you've sold your previous car and you're carless...then do like i said earlier...ask them for a loan car. If you terminate it now, someones gonna get your car with absolutely no wait...i think that would be more frsutrating to know than waiting an extra week or two.

                Good luck.

                Cheers,

                Jayse.

Paint protection will succeed in one thing, and one thing only - SWIRL MARKS and imperfections etched into the paint! PLEASE don't get paint protection. Biggest waste of money EVER! You end up paying for something that actually causes more bad than good.

Spend around $300-$400 on a professional detail that will actually enhance the paint as well as protect it with some quality products and end up with a finish like this...
