  • rns510 speed readout - did i get pinged?

i am sure i found somewhere it is possible to get the gps to readout true car speed. i've tried but cannot find it so would appreciate if someone can point me in the right direction.

I am trying to find out if i was pinged on the geelong road: cruise was set to 108 kmh, i reckon this will end up as 104 true speed so a klm either side of a fine?
had a passat tdi. now mb c class.

are you talking about speed readout in the MFD?

if so, you just scroll through the options using the controls on the steering wheel. It is in amongst fuel consumption, fuel range etc. I am guessing this is the true GPS speed as it is always a few clicks off the analogue speedo.

is this a MY09 feature, as my MY08 R36 does not have this feature.

I wouldn't worry too much, for a couple of reasons.

First, when I've compared speedo to GPS and the climate control reading, cruise set on ~106 = 98km/h.

Second, I've gone down Geelong Road at those sorts of speeds and never had a problem.

However, IIRC they are point to point cameras, although with the ability to ping you if you're over the limit passing them.

Ah, I love where I live at times.. I left the airshow on Friday night, and avoided the crowds, scooting back home via Balliang and Bacchus Marsh.. while watching the vast crowds trying to get back towards the West Gate.. we also waited about 30 minutes in the carpark before moving, then pretty much had a clear run out.

Only Point to Point cameras are on the hume. On the geelong road they have the speed camera's and also a laser system that is their verification system if your speeding. I set my cruise for 106 and was still slow when compared to other people.

I tried this but cannot find- there is an average speed but not instant.

to get your speed you need to keep changing with the left set of arrows until it shows you.. i have a my09 r36 and it shows me no problem.

I also have an 08 R36 and don't get this via the VW function (I do have a Fiscon Bluetooth kit which adds this, as well as revs, oil temp etc which is great, however I have to select it everytime I start the car, ie the Fiscon can't be selected as the default display). If the VW one was there, it would be great to leave it on as the default.

Anyone have it on an 08 model ?

tried all the combinations: no readout . maybe tdi implementation of rns510 is different from r36

meanwhile havent got a speeding fine yet so lookin ok
