  • RCD 510 Bluetooth

There seems to be a lot of variances to the Bluetooth systems on offer out there and it appears that not all VW dealers provide the same product when you talk about Bluetooth.

I want a Premium Bluetooth system installed on my new Passat 2009 model and would like the contacts and call details to be displayed on the MFD and center console. Can anyone provide the details of a system that works like this and is available in Australia.

My dealer is offering a kit that only allows you to answer calls and voice dial using the controls on the steering wheel but at $700+ i think its a rip off - I might as well install my old Nokia CK7W from my old car and get the same functionality at a fraction of the cost!!

Any advice or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Its funny you know, the Audi TT has the system you are seeking as standard equipment, but for some reason VW have dragged their heels.

Not sure of the answer to your question, but in the past the BTooth systems were pretty average.
Confirmed Global Warming Sceptic. No Longer a VW Owner -Loving my new 2011 Range Rover Sport - bought as VW unable to provide info on the new Toureg despite it being released overseas 12 mths ago. 2008 R36 Wagon, 2006 GTI and 2004 R32 - Gone. Sorry VW, you make great cars but until you improve your customers' experiences you will lose customers

ive not heard of any other option than this and yes it aint good value. nor does it work too well - but its a phone issue as well. try a demo for a few hours with your phone if possible.

when vw & also the dealer rang for feedback on the car i sprayed them every opportunity i got about BT ! hope they listen.

I am picking up my car this afternoon, I have been informed that in two months they are going to release the bluetooth system that comes up on the screen etc, for $1000.00. I was also offered the $700.00 system but politely declined and told them I would wait for the new system.

          Hi Matthew,

The dealer I spoke with on Friday mentioned a new system coming out as well. But when I pressed her further she said that it was still only an "answer & hangup" style system. No contact or calender syncing.

          Have you heard different?

          Cheers
          Sean

or set up a business importing and installing them yourself!!

sounds like there is a good market out there - everyone wants something that works well.

To be honest I'd seriously consider paying $1000 if it had the same functionality as the Accord Euro unit that stores your contacts and appointments and brings up notifications of whos calling and what appointments are due.

I was considering a Fiscon unit.

The site only mentions compatibility with RNS-510 but reading other forums it also works with an RCD-510 as well. Sticking point at the moment is that it will not work with the new white MFD.

There is a good write up here http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=4172227

Sean, the dealer (essendon Volkswagen) told me that the current system is a answer and hang up style, but the new one will integrate with the RNS510 with contacts etc.... I picked up my car yesterday!! love it, but can't get my wife out of it! I will be talking to the dealer next week as it is going back for a tow bar, so will probe a bit more deeply then and will post any more details I get.

Spoke to Solitaire in Adelaide on Wednesday and they advised the unit was available and fitted would cost about $700.

Can you give us some more details of the bluetooth unit you have installed. Functionality?? Brand?? Model??

Im sure there are many of us that would like to find out more if your unit does more than offer a pick up / hang up service.

For a Passat CC with RNS510 and dynaudio. There is a $900 version without full integration from VW, also a $549 one from The Car Kit Company, both do not integrate to the touch screen. VW MCCarrolls Waitara has a $1800 full version, but doesnt work for some high end Nokia phones. Will work on Blackberrys, only with less than 400 contacts.

You can import one for $1600 uninstalled, from http://www.kufatec.de/shop/product_i...Passat-CC.html
