  • Cost For Change Of Battery For Vw Passat

Today (13/Feb) I visited Denlo Paramatta in Sydney to have my battery replaced. There was nothing else wrong with the car except for a flat battery which was already about 5 years old. Denlo charged me $258 for the battery but the labour cost to replace the battery was $187. The invoice said replaced battery as requested and set the clocks and radio and cleared any faults due to replacement of battery - $187 labour cost. Has anybody had their battery replaced by an authorised VW dealer and what was the cost. I want to take this matter up as I believe this labor cost is simply ridiculous.

is it a B6 model with the battery under the hood? i was looking at mine and figure it would be a cinch to change over.

battery is only small so $258 is top dollar.

the b6 also has a felt cover - was that replaced?

i've always gone to a mob call supercharge batteries in moorabbin vic and usually their offering is 1/2 the bmw or volvo option and they help me fit it as well. i will go to them for the VW one if needed.

    definitely take it up!
had a passat tdi. now mb c class.

I think that it is fair to question that cost, as if I asked for a battery replacement, I am happy to reset my radio and clocks for that amount of money.

GTIMK5 on here told me that a sneaky way around this is to use a set of jumper leads on to the cars battery cables attached to another battery while you disconnect old and reconnect new saves you all of the reset hassles as it never loses voltage!

Let us know how you go and introduce yourself in the Newbies Corner!

Those prices sounds very steep to me. Check out the battery price elsewhere to get a comparison. As for t he labour cost...

I ALWAYS ask for a quote before I get any work done. That way you can shop it around if necessary
