  • A couple of questions for R36 owners

How long was the wait for your ordered R36?

What is the average fuel consumption you are achieving?

  • #2
    About 1.5 years

According to the trip 2 computer (which resets every 99 hours and 59 minutes) my wife averages 11 litres per 100kms during the week, and I bring that up to 12 on the weekends. We get about 550kms to the tank with mostly rural / hwy driving.

I get under 9, sometimes 8 litres per 100 on hwy trips. I've seen 880km range on the computer a few times now and have got 670kms with 10 litres still to go in the tank once.

On a twisty drive though, depending on how hard you push it you can get anywhere from 15L per 100kms - 20. I normally struggle to get 300kms from a tank when pushing it.

Once I ran out of petrol, and coasted down a hill into the servo. I only managed to put in 68 litres, but I thought we had a 70 litre tank..

Ditto - would be interesting to see how long owners had to wait for based on options ordered as well.

The dealer I've been speaking to recently, said there's plenty in stock for what I want (satnav, sunroof, auto tail), but I didn't pin him down on the timeframe...cos I thought it would be a couple of wks.
Now, I'm quite concerned because so many of you had to wait several months!!
Is the dealer just pulling my chain so he can get the deal?

Ordered in January 08, picked it up in June 08. Had wanted one for about a year prior to that!

It's a blue wagon with sat nav and automatic tailgate.

Average economy is pretty terrible for me. Most driving is in the city, and to my house - there's four-ish K's of high speed limited fun twisty road to my house and you know what happens there more often than not...

Didn't have to wait for more than a week since the car I wanted had just arrived in the country.

So far it's too early to say what my average consumption is but I can tell you it's not looking good. I've only had it for 2 weeks so I'm still like a kid at Xmas. But then again - I was expecting it to be a bit thirsty and besides I didn't really buy the car because of its fuel economy.

About 8 mths from order date, but my clour (Icelandic grey) wasn't in production for Au market at that stage. It took about 4 mths from when that colour was confirmed for Au production.
First few tanks of juice went real quick, avg about 18l/100lkm.
Now that the novelty has worn off and the reality of how much 98 octane costs, I'm managing under 10l/100klm Even seen 8.5 on a 300klm round trip with basically all country driving on cruise control. Very good considering the performance potential of this thing! And, that sound is worth it on it's own!!!

                3 days wait.

my wife drives 90% and she is seeing 11.5l/100 in the city. It has improved since new now she has done over 8000km.

I drove from Sydney metro to Lithgow via Bells Line of Road and saw 9.5 which i was amazed at.

Ordered Feb 08 (when I first heard about them)

                  Arrived Jun 08.

Options are sunroof and auto tailgate.

Economy average is 11.3L/100 kms, which is mainly inner city driving (I live 15kms from CBD and commute each day)

Best I have seen is 9.9L/ 100km average, going up the highway @ 115km/h

Worst I have seen is 15.5L/100km, flogging the hell out of it up the Putty Rd.

                  Very satisfied with that.

600km is great. Is she an aggressive driver or fairly sedate? Also is that mainly highway driving or stop/start traffic?

I am with you Jayse - thought I must have had a problem when someone said that many kms to a tank.

and I never see under 9.8L/100kms even on long trips (though I do generally sit on 15 over the signposted limit....

so , allowing for speedo being high, you can stay within 10 of the actual limit which is only 1 point..... i get it!
had a passat tdi. now mb c class.

Correct - except I use the GPS (15 or under is 1 point) and in built up areas I bring the speed back to the signposted limit.

TBH I have used this theory for some time, and as long as I am doing 15 or under I have had cops drive past and not bat an eyelid.... although I still hit the brakes when I spot them!!

Have only been booked once in past 5 years (do about 20-40,000 kms per year), and it was for 25 over the limit (I thought it was a 90 and it was an 80 zone). Wrote away and was let off - Joy!
