    I'm thinking the car must think with such little power being drawn by the LED that it's blown so cuts power to it. Anyone have any ideas?
    i had trouble even getting to those parker globes so gave up.

    if what you say is the issue, the only solution is to fit a resistor ( 33 ohm, 5W) across the power in parallel with the globes - messy indeed.
    had a passat tdi. now mb c class.

      Those parkers were simple for me to get at. They slide in at an angle (towards the front grill sort of) and just pull out with the plastic tab that their socket is connected to.
