  • Happy Little Beastie and her owner

The Little Beastie is getting better all time. Just before xmas I had some major work done(thanks Mr Rudd). I had a very big list needing to be done. CVWC at Tuggeranong had the bulk of the work which included, replacing all the boots on the drive shafts etc, tightening up stuff here and there. Unfortunately there we some things that could not be done at that stage due to not being able to source parts, i.e a new radiator and springs and shocks. The electric fuel pump also needed to be moved and rewired, this needs to done by the auto electrician. The new Bridgestone Adrenalin tyres also fell through.
I did however manage to get the exhaust done. A sports manifold with a two into one 2 1/4 inch system made for performance not for sound and not a milo tin in sight. The car goes and sounds great. My son Seb got me a K&N filter for xmas, and with the exhaust I reckon the power has increased in the range of 10 to 15 kw.
In regards to the stuff I could not get, the tyres will now be mid Jan, and it looks at this stage the suspension stuff and radiator will taken care of then as well. Hopefully at the same time the electric fuel pump will be rewired as well. Fingers crossed that it all pans out this time.
Hope you all had a great christmas, and have a good new year.

I'll need a new radiator for mine too. What do you have in mind? I'm thinking of doing the conversion to the Audi Fox radiator.

Not sure as yet. Maybe just a good 2nd hand one or a diesel one which is wider but will fit, depends on what the parts guy says.

The way I read this it sounded like Mr Rudd came over and did the work himself! What with you being in Canberra and all...

Anyway, sounds like you're doing a good job giving the Beastie the love and attention it deserves.

        Cheers

Well he is called Kevin 24/7 and at the moment he is running everyone in the Public Service ragged. They have never had to work so hard. So due to this he let me outsource the work (like my govvie speak).

Probably a good move as I don't think the govt have the interests of the VW community at heart. Not enough spending on infrastructure, no tax breaks, or concession psychiatric care for owners of old quirky cars. Maybe a special VW lobby group specialising in older dubs is in order.

                    Go 5 spd

My first car was a '76 Audi Fox. Heaps of mods, i'm sure there's heaps of bits still under Mum and Dad's house!
Best mod ever was 5 spd trans from Audi 80. It's rather difficult to fit but worth the hassle if you can find one!
