Format is fat32. from mem it is a 6Mb/s card but will check tonight. I have about 50 directories in the root so it takes about 30 - 45 seconds to scan. Once you dig deeper it speeds up as there are not as many objects. At the moment I am navigating music based on the directory structure which is a bit average. I hope there is a way to browse based on ID tages (artist, album, etc.)

      Hey Guys,

I also created and copied MP3's directly to my 12gb Card from itunes. I have about 11gb of music all in the one directory. The card takes about 5 seconds to start from cold. I select "MIX" and then start playing. Once I find something I feel like listening to I switch off the mix and can start listening to the Album!

Got to love the SD card option!

So you don't use folders at all?

          No. None.

Shuffle the whole lots and stop shuffle when I find something I like.

          Works for me

              1. The startup screen when the unit is scannign the SD card. This can last anywhere from 20 - 60 seconds.

It functions well however I do get pissed with the "processing" message that always displays as you navigate folders so I may have to change my structure. I would also like a way to sort/browse based on the data in t he tag rather than just directory structure.

                  Ash,

I agree that looks bloody brilliant - ive ordered a 125kw tdi wagon and its not due to arrive until June 09

have ordered the ipod adaptor but based on your comments I think I will save my $400 and tell them to forget about installing it. They cant seem to tell me how well the RCD 510 will function with the IPOD anyway.

I noticed that the dash seems to have changed a little. Do you reckon you could post some more pics of the dash layout and centre console for us to have a look at - ive only been able to see what i think is the old layout with red dash and the like.

Do you happen to have bluetooth for your phone - also cant get dealer to give me too much info so any light you could shed would be great.

                  Cheers.

No BT as my previous exp with dealer fitted kits is not good. I am currently using a BlueAnt SuperTooth Light unit which is ok but not as good as the intergrated one (Parrot with VW kit) that I had in my Treg. When i get time I will do some research and get something installed.

Will take a few more shots of the dash tonight.

The upgraded version was a nice suprise when I collected the car. Even the dealer was shocked as the other MY09 R36's in the showroom (built after mine) still had the original console...

                      Very helpful post, Ash!

I'm looking at an '09 R36 wagon too, and dealer pointed out the new white illumination in the MFD, and relocated gauges.
However, I didn't think know there is a difference in appearance of the touchscreen unit b/w '08 and '09?

I don't think the MY08 unit had a touchscreen (unless you went with the RNS510.)

                          Ash,

Is the MFD display an R36 thing or do you reckon I could expect to get the same on the 125tdi that Im getting.

Will stay tuned for the extra pics.

                          Cheers again.

nat, you'll get the MFD. I'm pretty sure it's standard in all MY09 Passats. Another VWagen Wagoner!!! Mine arrives in May 09...

The old MY08 models of all cars didnt have touch screens. they had an older green lcd (much like a digital watch) with a 6 stacker cd built in. didnt get the nice touch screen stuff you do on the rcd510.
