Auto Tailgate function - can it be added ?

I am still waiting ( not so patiently ) for our Passat 125kW TDI which was ordered mid june and they are quoting mid December.

Anyway in frustration have been also looking at an audi a4 avant and decided to test drive the Passat again. We were affirmed it is a good thing and worth the wait - not to mention the 16k saving for a similar spec A4 machine. ( we only ever drove the 103 and the 125 seemed much quicker than i recall so that was a really nice surprise)

Anyway, my wife really liked the auto tailgate on the demo - we haven't ordered this so does anyone know is it :
a. not possible
b. possible but expensive or
c. relatively easy to post fit?

Ive also ordered satnav and wondering if they have released a bluetooth kit for it yet?

As a matter of interest i have rented her an audi a3 sport back 1.8T meanwhile. Paying $36 from Europcar a day which if you work it out is probably cheaper than buying it. Whilst its a zoomy little thing its driving us both nuts- turbo/ dsg combo too finicky and peaky. Also interior is black as a dogs mouth! wouldn't buy one. I suspect golfs much easier to live with?

I'm no genius but I think it is a factory option only. I am guessing if delivery is expected mid-Dec that you would be too late for them to install because the car would be close to finished and despatched, if it has not already been.

Ask your dealer mate. For the cost of one phone call, at least you'll know either way...

just sent him an email. decided if i rang i might get annoyed at the delay and make a threat i'd live to regret ( ie gimme something or i cancel the order.)

I also asked to have the 2 stage remote unlock disabled. would be really handy if we lived in Soweto. My BM has the same feature and it drove me nuts- the dealer was able to disable it and i reckon vw can as well.

correct the two stage can be disabled by the dealer, it can also be disabled/enabled by you in the multi function display

Absolutely! You will be amazed at exactly what you can have control over from the MFD. Read the book and have a play.

Although when I picked the vehicle up, my dealer told me just to play - "you can't break anything and the best way to get a handle on the basics is to play".

Use the manual for things like setting up the mirrors and seat settings to match the remotes (if fitted with the memory seats option). All the other stuff, just play!!

sounds good. the dealer hasnt replied yet re the auto tailgate but i have been away and there might be a missed email.

i have seen in china a type of passat i dont think we ever saw here: will be posting some pics for your interest. taken in a mobile phone which comes back monday. looks to me like a b5.5 midlife we never saw!

That is a China specific model and is based on the B5.5 and Skoda Superb...
