Very true. If you want to know what to use, contact DMS_Dan.. He knows his stuff.

And yes, that paint protection is complete BS..

They put ridiculous prices on it, but it's good stuff. I wouldn't buy it, I'd enjoy maintaining my car myself anyway

My dealer told me the same thing. What is the deal with this? I have used it on some of my older cars and it seemed to be okay but there must be a reason why people say this...

As for paint protection, I had it done on my new 4WD some time ago, and yes, it is not cheap, but it sure helped keep the beast free of anything more than superficial scratches.

This time with the VW, I brought it home and so far haved polished two layers of Carnauba wax onto the paintwork. And it is a lot cheaper, and appears to work well. I'm sure that there is better stuff out there, but elbow grease and Carnauba is a pretty good combination IMHO.

DMS-Dan may be able to back this up from his experience... and maybe let us know what we should use on the dash in lieu of ArmorAll.

Don't put paint protection on!! It's a con, especially for $2,000!!! You can get it detailed once a year for 5 years and have Zano put on it to protect it and it will look better!!

Yea, amourall ends up drying out the dash if you stop using it! Got to do with the compound of the stuff in it.

Good old waxing everynow and then should keep it looking good

Do other brands (such as meguiars) have the same problem? Or is it specific to armour all?

A lot of the time it's the cheaper brands that do the injustice. Everyone uses Armour-all as an example of one of these bad brands that do more damage to the car than good. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm almost certain that Meguiars products are fine.

Plastic's on new car's are just about bomb proof & don't really need any condition or anything really.

Even my VN dash is perfect & it sit's out in the sun all the time & that's 18 year's old.

Plastic technology has come along way since the dreaded mk1's!

When I clean my interior plastic's on any of my car's, I just use a damp chammy.

Even on the mk1, but hte plastic's are getting very brittle these day's!
