      Been there... not impressed.

Don't know the brand, but they showed me chrome rims with PLASTIC caps!

      And Kumho tyres?!? No thanks.

Place had a real 'cheap and nasty' feel to it.

Maybe I'm just a bit of a snob, but it was just the 'vibe' of the place.

Hmnn... a set of "cheapo" 19's with tires will set you back around 1900-2300 at least anyway. These are nice but you would be pushing it obviously http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/Wheel...umber=CH023DSK

A wheel that looks better in silver than black, I'll be damned!

I find the ride on 18"s on Perth roads pretty firm....you must be pretty keen if you are going up to 19"s

                Budget

                Budget is $3000-$3500.

Yes, 19"s will be firm, but I'm willing to accept it for the great look the 19"s will be.

                Wife might not agree though....

Anyone willing to suggest tyres? i'm thinking Yokohama V103 Advan - Good compromise between cost and performance. i really would like a quiet tyre, seeings the car is so noisy on anything but the smoothest of tarmac. Does anyone else have this gripe? Road roar is horrendous for a 'prestige' vehicle.

                  BBS rims

                  Hey houso,

I had those exact rims on my Liberty B4. I agree, they are sweet.

They are a bit hard to clean though.

Currently considering these, but don't know how a black rim will go on a black car... hmmm...

Problem is the stud pattern and offset. Not finding many wheels that will fit the Passat.

These ones do, thats why i'm considering.... opinions?...

Gotta love the BBS', geez you must have had a cool Liberty! When your looking for wheels just say they're for an audi, the offsets, centerbores and widths are all the same... It should be a bit easier that way since the popularity the A4's have...

Would you consider a set of used wheels? Like from an A4 or an A8?

great tyres are the Goodyear F1 Asymmetrics - theyve won most of the professionally done tyre comparison tests around the world in the last year or so.

                        and plus 1 for tirerack.com

you might be pleasantly surpirsed on the savings you can make compared to local prices. Just make sure you include an allowance for import dutes etc

So what do i have to pay for decent rims?

                          The Advanti's are $310 each.

What do you get with expensive rims? I've seen OZ (Italian) 19"s as high as $1300 each. What do you get for the extra $1000 per corner?

Starting to think I'll stick with my VW Chicago 18"s...

diligently searching the bay of E regularly definitely yields good bargains run the wheels past us if you're unsure if they'll fit. also, with corrective bolts (which are TUV approved before you start getting worried about safety) you can fit 5x114.3 wheels.

this is what a corrective bolt is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=adWfw2a-U6M

this is where to get them: www.raderwerks.com go to parts and then 14twelve

Regarding importing the tyres - would they have the relevant ADR's etc... with them? Although I have read somewhere the ADR's don't apply to tyres and only the dot? ratings or whatever do.

Also with the cheap wheels, I've heard some horror stories of enthusiastic driving going bad with el cheapo wheels...
