Great job, looks awesome! I had a Passat L 1974 model with larger single round headlights back then. Your headlights are from the TS model. Wish that colour had been available back then. Most of them were either light blue, yellow or white. I remember seeing one with a vinyl roof, which was very unusual. Brings back memories!
PS. Great car but the gear linkages were a real problem. Getting reverse instead of first gear was common.
Love this! So much win here! Who did your dash for you? Did you do it yourself? Any tips?
As they would say in England "This motor is well sorted"
It is VERY hard to find parts... But they are there to be had at least... Shocks have been the hardest part, although I see Peter & Co have found some Bil's.... MMmmmm
Too many dubs to mention.... Erika (2008 Mk5 GTi - Graphite Blue, DSG, Leather, Xenons, RNS510) Matilda (1991 Triton Flat Tray - White, 5sp Man, Vinyl Bench, Radio)

Hi there,
Awesome job I know how hard it is to get parts as I have had to put my 75 TS resto on hold due to job committments but about to get back into it.
Like previous question - who did the dash?
Also I note what looks like a steel fuel tank-was it new or did you do any repairs? Did someone else do repairs if so who. Like many/most my tank rusted out many years ago but some very good fiberglassing kept it alive until a inspector spotted it.

Hi,
There seems to be a question raised early about gear change mechanisms. I have had experience with both early (pre 76 in AUS) and later types as in 1977_Passat's car above. I have all the bits to convert the horrible early type shift mechanism to the revised type for my project and have done this mod before some 30yrs ago. Not simple but can be done, the box is the same and there is a change to the front engine mounting as well. But the result is no surprise reverse gear instead of first and no jumping out of gear on bumps.

Hi goku :
Sorry for the late reply .
Thank you for your comment .I did the dash by making the cracks deeper and useing car body filler and painting it with under body tarp paint . is not the best .
The better way is to use fiber glass to fill and cover completly and then paint it .
My petrol tank was ok and I just cleaned and painted it .
Hi goku :
To do this conversion dont you have to cut the well to instal a the tower for the short shifter ?
Do you live in Australia ? I am from Sydney .

hi Amir, AWESOME how you rebuilt your B1. looks very neat
Yes, you will need to Cut out the Channel and weld in the later model one..
The Later channels sit much higher than the ones you and i have ( i own a 75 LS coupe )
older models like ours came out 4 speed with crap Shifters
Its needed for us of the setup you referencing and for use of the 5Speed gearboxes.
My LS coupe
The Channel Conversion
Cut out the Old Channel
Weld in the Raised Later model channel
Difference in Linkages
Older Models Top ( attached to box )
New models bottom
Mountings are diff too..
Old mounting sits to rear of box
New ones are to side of box ( below taillight is mounting and brackets )
I have a Parts car i will be cutting up soon. car stood for a While and only got back into it now
As she stands
Rebuilt Engine, did some bodywork so getting there
