1984 B2 Passat Sedan "Nelson"

Another oddity landed on our front lawn yesterday.

It's a 1984 5Cylinder, 5 Speed, South African B2, Passat Sedan.

I doubt there's another like it in Australia.

They're not a pretty car, this one is destined for the scrapper once we've salvaged the bits we want off it.

Here's some pics, it's not quite like anything else.







These seats are MK1 Golf / B1 Passat dimensions.

Yep - it is kinda ugly, though it does seem to have sort of odd charm to it. Other than its ugliness, what makes it only worth scrapping? It seems in decent condition. Is it the 'Go Sailing' sticker?

Basically we're after the gearbox, wheels, seats, brakes and some of the suspension bits. If someone wants to save it speak up soon.

This came from e-bay and we were bidding against scrapyards anyway (you can tell from their history) if we didn't buy it it was getting crushed anyway.

We'll grab the bits we need and the scrapper will give us ~$200 for the remains.

The car is a private import from South Africa, motor needs a rebuild and one CV is shot.

Dash and cluster would probably go into a B1.

Condition wise, it needs a repaint and a motor rebuild, can't see anyone bothering with it to be honest.

Is that a 5 speed gear box you got there? Always wanted one of them.

Yep, that's the main reason we bought the car. The 5 speed will eventually go into our Passat.

I'd like to see how that goes seeing as yours is a B2. I think in the B1 you have to do a fair bit of fabricating of the chassis to get it to fit. Well at least thats what I understand from reading about it on DOG.

Those are the same mags as my 5+5, INTRA?
all the audis I've seen pics of & then I finally
find them on a passat.

So can I assume I could buy A passat & throw
my Audi running gear strait in?
