    Hi! Thats a tidy Passat you have there. Not too many around down here these days. Parts are getting harder to find. I still get a few through my workshop. Good to see one that is pampered these days, well done!

      '75 vs '76

      '75 Passats here had the long gearstick and the full chrome bumpers. If my memory serves me correctly the plastic end caps and short gear stick arrived in '76. Syncro... correct me if I'm wrong.

        I don't think there are any '75 Passats here.

        You're correct about the bumpers.

          Steves Wagon is a 75 and has chrome bumpers that curve round with no endcap.

            Still a couple of 75s here. You are right Brackie, 76s had plastic end cap bumpers, early 76s didn't have air pumps, all were 1600 with an improved gearbox mount though eventually a lot of them tore the mounting bracket off the lhs floor/ firewall area.

              Doh! Just read it properly. He's in the UK!

              Australia had them in '74. Built too many so didn't build any in '75.

                thats right guys i'm over here in Uk. My Passat is definatley a 75 according to the log book with a 1300cc motor. I got an original sales brochure of the e bay and they came with the option of 1300cc or 1600cc. I've been to a few shows this year with it and havent seen another yet! It definatley gets some looks. My other car is this;

                This is a project thats nearly three years down the line. Every nut and bolt replaced for new. 1981 car with 2ltr 16v motor , cable shift box, adjustable suspension, passat front discs n calipers , mk4 golf rear discs n calipers, mk4 golf recaro trim, 17's ( although may be changed for something a bit more user friendly! ) , Mk4 Polo dash, ahh the list is endless !! Hopefully finished soon.

                            just looking at your pics and can I just say you have restored my respect for the passat - my mum had one the same orange colour but it ended up in a very bad way with rust holes etc.
