Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Centre muffler delete

So I booked the CC in to a local exhaust shop to have the centre muffler replaced with pipe. A couple of hours after I'd dropped it off the guy from the shop calls me to tell me he doesn't think I should do it.
So I went in and he put it up on the hoist to explain. The centre muffler is shaped like a cradle and sits right under the tailshaft. The pipe goes into the muffler box on the passenger side of the tailshaft and comes out on the drivers side, meaning the new pipe crosses diagonally under the tailshaft. This would result in very little clearance between pipe and shaft with the possibility of contact as the suspension travels.
I don't really want to go to the expense of 2x new rear sports mufflers.
Anybody have any ideas or have had similar issues?

R36 and CC share the same chassis, correct?

I've had mine done since late last year and I've never had a problem other than all the bro's saying "sick zorst bro!!"
Mine is a 3.6 4motion ass well and it took all of 1 hour to do and $80.

Okay, good news... I had the centre muffler deleted yesterday. Quite happy with the results. Virtually no change to the sound at idle and cruising speed, but when you step on the gas it almost sounds like an AMG Merc!
