  • Help, car wouldn't start

    Hi guys,

I was tinkering with the side mirror last night and everything was alright. I finished with the mirror, put everything back the way it was, and parked the car properly...

This morning my car wouldn't start.

Please check the video below... it makes weird ticking sounds, then it says Fault: Airbag on the MFD.

Is this a battery problem? I made sure that the lights and radio were off while I was working on the mirror last night...

    Thanks...

Looks like power issues to me .. I would be starting with the battery.

Did you have a door open while tinkering. Interior lights would run an old battery down

From memory, I don't think so... I'm usually careful, but I guess the battery was due for replacement... Been thinking about replacing it for the last month, it always happens when you don't expect it...

I have installed the new battery... The car starts fine and the windows are behaving... But I still have airbag fault coming up after ignition and the airbag light stays on... Is that normal?

That's normal with airbag faults, needs fixing with VCDS.

I got myself a Ross-Tech Hex+Can cable and VCDS, I have reset the airbag fault and it didn't come back
I have noticed many other faults around, I believe they must be related to the battery problem.
                        something like this

                        1 Fault Found:
001674 - ECM Power Relay Load Circuit
                        P068A - 000 - Opens Too Early - Intermittent
                        Freeze Frame:
                        Fault Status: 00100000
                        Fault Priority: 2
                        Fault Frequency: 1
                        Reset counter: 255
                        Mileage: 0 km
                        Time Indication: 0

I will clear them all tomorrow, drive it for a while and see if anything comes back.

                        Cheers,
                        Vexed
