cost of fitting Towbar to passat 3cc v6 4motion?

looking at getting a towbar fitted to above.was quoted $300 to fit plus $547 for kit.this sounds about right? opinions please.

What year It seems about $1500 is the going rate for Passats like mine There was a big thread about it a few months ago with unhappy people with bodgy jobs of installation.

Module for lights etc is about $700 from what has been posted without the bar or fitting

This is different to the swivelling unit like the one fitted if ordered as an option, yes? The one where its tucked away at rest, and electrically deployed when needed?

i dont think this is like that.detachable tongue as per conventional towbar i would suspect.

well had towbar fitted yesterday. Towbars Australia were excellent.done while i waited,about 2.5 hrs. very hassle free. the only thing is that the towbar itself is a bit unusual in style.with the tongue a rather suggestive shape,see pic post 5.the actual part of the towbar that is seen is a bit bulky/ different.the ease of tongue removal is good though,no bolts just a lever lock and load action.for what i want it does the job and a $1000 less than other quotes.certainly the team at Towbars Australia were a pleasure to deal with.

yes they did cut the valance underneath a fair bit. probably more than i thought necessary but it could have been for access but i think just a little careless.thankfully underneath so you dont really see unless you get down on your knees.

My tow bar is getting installed right now, it's the same bar you got from Towbars Aus, we'll see what the Vic installers do with the bumper cut

Installed, I got them to put the electrics plug else where and to make the cut as small as possible, I'm pretty happy with that...
