  • Passat CC - Crack in plastic panel on boot

Just noticed that the plastic panel on the top edge of the boot on my passat CC has cracked completely from edge to edge, very close to the centre of the boot. Has any one else come across anything similar. I cannot see any marks on the panel and are wondering if it happened in last weeks heat in melbourne.

I read this twice and don't understand, it was Hot in Melbourne?

Can you post a picture of your crack. (I hope you aren't a plumber.)

I have the same problem but in my case last years hail damage contributed to the hair line crack across the black plastic strip.
Apparently the plastic is highly prone to scratches.
The local VW dealer is about to repair my hail damage has said that they crack easily when removed.

My wife's has done the same thing. Has anyone had this fixed under warranty? Must have been the 40 plus temps we have been experiencing.

If under warranty it may be covered, when I worked at a VW Dealership we replaced one.

The local dealer said that their not aware of this. However, bring it in an we will have a look at it. My big concern is that may do more damage doing the repair as I have read on other forums.

Does anyone know what the panel on the 2013 model is made from, plastic or metal?

Re: Passat CC - Crack in plastic panel on boot

Hey all....this crack is verry common woth the CC's here in the U.S. VWOA (volkswagen owners of america) knows about this, and most of the dealers do. They are replacing them....no cost. The '13 CC have metal instead of plastic. Mine has not cracked yet...but will soon.
Hopefully you have an official corporate site to contact like we do here.

VW is going to replace the panel under warranty, don't know if it's being replaced with plastic or metal.

It is supposed to be metal.

Had the panel replaced without any problems under warranty. However, they replaced it with a a plastic one again. I guess it will eventually be going back the next time we get another hot spell. Hope it's still under warranty then.

Don't forget you now have a 2 years extra parts warranty on it....
