Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

So this has just been unveiled at Geneva. Replacement of the Passat CC of old.

    2018 Volkswagen Arteon liftback unveiled

I seriously contemplating changing my Passat 206 order to this. Wonder how much of a premium it would be price wise to the Passat 206?

Anyone know how much more the Passat CC was over the sedan?

The CC retailed for $61k for TDI & $75k for V6 (drive-away). CC was almost fully optioned (except sunroof and paint) compared to B7 it was based on. The B7 V6 was around $62k from memory plus options. The B7 TDI retailed for about $46k and low 40s towards the end of its production life. It seems the premium was $14-$15k.

So im wondering though the 206 now is fully optioned and comparing it to the Arteon theres only some minor changes. From what i can tell its 100mm longer, has a new infotainment screen with gesture control, front parking camera and thats about it... Possibly digital radio (hopefully)

I would assume the price gap would be much smaller than before. New golf facelift will have gesture control as well and I could see the B8 getting it with facelift update in the future. Should the price go above $70k, it will be a hard sell since you can buy a MB C250d Sport for $76k and that is asking price. At that price, the range on cars is big and I could not justify buying a VW as much I love them.

yeah true that... i think if its only max $5k i'd be tempted any more and its a hard ask!... It also comes with remote boot opening by kicking under the rear bumper!

Just had a look at VW Germany site. Already on it, at dealers in 2nd half of this year with prices starting at 35.000 euros for base TSI and from 37.350 euros for base TDI but not specified which ones. Confirmed top engines 176TDI (we can only dream about) & 206TSI - both 4Motion. 3 models will be available over there: Arteon, Arteon R-Line & Arteon Elegance. Maybe will get here early 2018.
