It's been a journey over seven years.
First a 2.0 TDi Golf, then a 2.0 125kw Passat.
(the Golf is still with us)
Now it is a 2007 (built 2006) Touareg 3.0 TDi in the stable.
I began the research a little while ago, deciding the 3.0l diesel the number one choice for me.
To find one affordable was a challenge, then fell in love with the tan leather version in the dark silver.
Transporter here on the Forum helped me with information as well as the service manager at
Jacksons in Hobart our VW dealer.
The decision to purchase was made. Plans fell into place, a deal struck and I flew to NSW.
An uneventful and pleasant trip to Melbourne saw me beaming from ear to ear and when taking a break I could be found with my head in the owners manuals, trying to absorb as much information as possible.
Fuel consumption was an outstanding 9.0l/100k. Way to go!
On my arrival in Melbourne, new tyres were purchased, the old Kumhos were well past their best.
Once more, Miro (Transporter) helped with advice, on the Friday of the Australia Day long weekend.
The final leg of 280ks to home from Devonport saw the economy drop to 10.5l/100ks, but I'm thrilled.
This VW is the best yet for me and I look forward to the pleasure of ownership.
There's a little work to do, tidying up a few things, natural for a vehicle with 166,000ks.
Miro (Transporter), thanks for the support, invaluable.
Cheers
Richard
