Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

    V6 TDI sudden loss of power

    This has happened 6 times within the last 3000ks and VW service cannot fix as no fault codes/indicators to help diagnose. Treg looses power and engine shudders, but does not stop, when accelerator is pressed. Blip the throttle a few times and problem goes away until next time. Changed air and fuel filter and am now conviced it's the turbo but with no fault codes VW service will not move on this. Occurred twice on our trip up Cape York and now back in Cairns and thinking of cutting the trip short and heading home. Anyone else had similar problems? Scary but luckily not occurred with a B-Double behind yet!

      Perhaps it's worth investing in a cheap in-car video recorder for the next time this intermittent problem occurs. Ask the service team if video footage would help them and be enough info for them to take action. There are various cameras on eBay.
      Some say he was the Stig... all we know is that he drives a VW Transporter.

        2007 V6 face lift TDI. Been good with just the regular problems, replaced centre carrier bearing on drive shaft at 110,000ks and flapper motor issues a couple of months back, all done on extended warranty. Good suggestion to video the problem, will keep the iPhone handy for the next time. Cheers guys.

          It could be the turbo actuator but you need to scan it for any fault codes.
